Cut on Samsung tv with IMac and Lacie d2 professional

Hello.
Sorry for my English I am French.
I have been using Serviio for years and since my change of Mac (imac M4) and external hard drive (Lacie d2 professional).
I have systematic cuts after a few minutes when playing mkv video files on my usual Samsung tv.
When the file is directly on the iMac i never have cuts when playing on the Samsung tv, but when the file is on the external hard drive it is systematic.
I searched all over the forums, made several tests and adjustments, i can't find any solution.
I specify that I have activated on the Mac in system settings then in energy "prevent automatic suspension when the screen is off" and "reactivate during network access".
I have deactivated "power saving mode" and "suspend hard disk activity as soon as possible".
Moreover, even when I leave the Mac totally on, the cuts still come to the playback on the Samsung tv.
I also tried to unplug and reconnect the hard drive, tried other usb c ports too.
Still no solution.
Note that I am on Freebox Pop wifi 6.

Thank you for your help !

How is the external drive connected to your iMac? Since the file plays fine if it's on the computer internal drive but not from an external drive, the bottleneck is apparently with the connection to the external drive. I know nothing about the MacOS, but it sounds like you've made the correct settings to ensure the computer itself isn't impacting the stream. That's why I asked how the external drive is connected. If it's USB, then there might be an issue with your USB port on the computer, or perhaps even the external drive itself. If it's connected over the network, then perhaps there's a networking issue here.

Re: Cut on Samsung tv with IMac and Lacie d2 professional

Hello,

Thank you for the answers and help.

The connection is in usbC.
I tried 3 different usbC cables including new ones.
I tried each of the 4 different usbC ports of the Imac as well.
The external hard drive is not directly connected to the network, the dlna software installed on the Mac allows you to read locally the contents of the internal disk and connected external discs.

Since then I have advanced a little on the subject, via other tests and via the Apple technical service, even if the problem is not solved.

In particular, with a boot test in safe mode the problem is solved, but then with a normal start the problem comes back.

It is very strange because by formatting the disk in APFS there is no longer a disconnection, everything works normally, and if I format it in EXFAT the disconnection problem comes back.

I tested with another hard drive, not a Lacie, a 5-year-old WD, in EXFAT no problem, no disconnection in dlna.

So the problem only concerns the EXFAT format, between the professional Lacie d2 and the Imac M4, yet the model is sold on the Apple store so recommended by Apple. In addition, it was delivered already formatted in EXFAT.

So there you go, it doesn't suit me at all to have to operate in APFS, and I really don't see what could explain an EXFAT incompatibility in dlna only on Lacie.

If someone has an idea, see could do the test himself maybe...

Thank you for your help!

Interesting that the file format made the difference. I never would have expected that. But I have my doubts it's anything Serviio related. It sounds more like an OS issue.

Re: Cut on Samsung tv with IMac and Lacie d2 professional

Hello,

I haven't had any answers since then, too bad :(

In any case, I used the hard drive warranty to change it, the ultimate solution, unfortunately the problem persists, systematic disconnections in Exfat and no disconnection in APFS.

Strange for a hard drive sold on the Apple store and delivered preformatted in Efaxt, as if it were incompatible in Dlna with in my case the latest iMac and latest MacOS.

I really don't know what to do anymore :(
