Serviio Not Working With New Router

Serviio works fine with my old router. With the new, I can see the correct destination IP address in Serviio status, but it is always listed as unrecognized. I run Win 11 pro. Both routers are Netgear. Old is R6900, New is RS280S / BE9200.

I have been trying to figure this out for months and getting nowhere. I think there is a way to set a static outgoing IP address in Serviio, but don't know if that would help or how to do it.

I would appreciate any help or suggestions.

Re: Serviio Not Working With New Router

First, is your problem connecting from devices internal to your network, or are you trying to use MediaBrowser from the Internet? Is the Serviio computer connected via Ethernet, or via WiFi? Same with the devices trying to connect: wired or wireless?

You don't set a static IP in Serviio, the computer running Serviio should have a static IP address on the network adapter you're using. So depending on the Serviio's computer operating system, you need to find out how to do that. Just be aware you don't simply pick a random number from thin air. There's a few questions to ask and answer to determine what IP address to assign to the computer.

This is on an internal network. I am not using media browser. PC is wired to the router. Serviio and (target device) BR player use Wi-Fi from the router. The router now has a static IP address set for the BR player that shows in Serviio. Only after reboot Serviio delivers video for about 20 minutes, then disconnects. Same problem trying playback with Roku media player after a few minutes. It says "media server is offline".

Re: Serviio Not Working With New Router

Thanks for the update. The router cannot 'set' a static IP for a device, but it can reserve the same IP address just for that device. It's more important to have a static (or reserved) IP address in your Serviio computer (Windows 11 I believe you mentioned) so make certain that is done. You mention a Roku device, which does not have the capability of assigning a static IP, so a reservation would be valuable there as well.

This appears to be an issue with the Serviio computer either losing its network connection, or for some reason the ports Serviio uses are being blocked either at the PC or in the router. Most home routers don't have that level of control, but since you're using wireless for every device your router does have the capability of blocking wireless devices from seeing other devices on your network. I'm assuming you are not using the Guest WiFi settings, as those enable this security setting by default.

You might try disabling your Windows Firewall completely on the Serviio PC as a test. Personally, I have it disabled on all of my home PCs, as I'm not concerned with my home network security between my devices. If it still only works for about 20 minutes, then you know that's not the issue.
