Devices cannot see serviio server anymore

Serviio was working great, but now I am no longer able to connect to it. There are 2 scenarios happening:

1. PS3 will not see it at all, and serviio no lonher sees the PS3 like it did before (green dot). I primarily used the PS3 up until a few weeks ago when it stopped communicating with serviio. So, I started using my Bravia TV.

2. Now the Bravia will not see the serviio server. Strangely though, the Bravia shows up in the serviio console with a green dot.

I have not changed routers. I have set the default IP within serviio and ensured it is correct. I started having this problem with version 5.1, I upgraded to 5.2 but show the same results.

Thanks!

I am having the exact same problem. Sony Bravia no longer seeing Serviio. I have the green dot as well. Hopefully there is a solution. I wonder if the Bravia did an auto update.

Re: Devices cannot see serviio server anymore

I found the solution to my problem :D . For some reason, even though I entered 10.0.1.6 as the default bound IP in serviio, the log showed for some reason serviio bound to a 172.x.x.x address from one of my vmnet VMWare interfaces. I uninstalled VMWare Fusion, and serviio started working again for my devices.

Make sure your IP addresses are still setup properly. I had something like that happen and my router had reassigned my IP address to my EVA2000.

I did just get a new router. How would i confirm the IP addresses are set up correctly?

Re: Devices cannot see serviio server anymore

you should be able to get the ip addresses off the individual devices or off your router.

delete your serviio.log and then restart serviio and post it here, it will have some IP information in it.

What type of router? Manufacture and model.

You should be able to type 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.2.1 depending on the brand of the router and there should be a tab that says connected devices.

Re: Devices cannot see serviio server anymore

Router’s default IP address is 192.168.1.1

This router is a dual band, make sure that both devices are on the same freq. ie both on 2.5 or both on 5.

Make sure that you disable the built in upnp media server

  Code:
UPnP Media Server To use the Router’s media server
function, select Enabled. Otherwise, select Disabled.

A couple of people have had to enable UPNP on their router to allow serviio to work properly. Try it each way and let us know if you did need to so we can make a note of it.

  Code:
Advanced Features
UPnP If you want to use UPnP, keep the default, Enabled.
Otherwise, select Disabled.

  Code:
DHCP Client Table
The DHCP Client Table lists computers and other devices
that have been assigned IP addresses by the Router. The
list can be sorted by Client Name, Interface, IP Address,
and MAC Address. To select a DHCP client, click Select. To
update the on-screen information, click Refresh. To exit
this screen and return to the DMZ screen, click Close.

Re: Devices cannot see serviio server anymore

tried a few things. read in another post to bind ip address, tried that, no luck. tried both enabling and disabling pnp server. confirmed ip address assigned to tv. same ip address shows in Serviio. tv can access internet. windkws media server is found and active, still not seeing Serviio. How do i provide this serviio.log? any other ideas. both tv and pc are wired connection.

Re: Devices cannot see serviio server anymore

the log is under the log directory in your install directory. Look at my signature under detailed logging to get more info.

Re: Devices cannot see serviio server anymore

Would the fact that the Windows Media Player 11 DLNA server working fine mean that this is a separate issue from the IP addresses being set up properly? Sorry, i have a hard time with the DOS commands, hoping there might be another way to diagnose the issue. I tried contacting Linkysys yesterday and the only response i could get out of them was that they do not support DLNA servers. Frustrating.

Re: Devices cannot see serviio server anymore

yes if it is on the same machine. I do not think the two can work together on the same computer. Try disabling windows media player 11 dlna server

Re: Devices cannot see serviio server anymore

I will give that a shot this evening. I did have both of them running with my previous router. Maybe it is something to do with port forwarding? I was reading some other posts about ensuring certain ports are open.

Re: Devices cannot see serviio server anymore

Randomly rebooted everything one last time and now it's working. Strange. FYI I have the pnp server left disabled on the e3000. Thanks for your help.
