I think you're right, although haven't done it myself so I might be wrong ;-) I'd have thought you don't have to reencode, just remux it into a new mkv without header compression.

Re: Some MKVs lock up c5500

I can confirm that reading the file into MKV merge, setting audio and video headers to default and writing it out fixes the problem.

Many thanks

To forum supervisors, is it worth putting the two problems and fixes found in this thread, along with others that must be around, into an FAQ - problems and fixes for files that do not play ?

Re: Some MKVs lock up c5500

As pointed out to me on another site, the IMMERSE audio problem can be solved within "mkvmerge", without having to resort to "mkvpropedit":

1: Run mkvmerge, click "File" and select "Header editor" (or press CTRL+E)
2: In the Header editor window, click "File" and "Open". Select and load the MKV you wish to fix.
3: From the list, expand "Audio track 2" and click "Audio sampling frequency"
4: Both the "Original value" and the "Current value" will read "0". Set the "Current value" to "48000".
5: Go to "File" and click "Save".

Job done, without all the command window hassle.

Cheers,

Andy
