Can't see folders

Hi Guys

I have a Samsung BD-C6500 and I'm trying to connect it to my PC. It's all setup and I can see movies which are in my standard Videos folder (the one created with Windows), but I don;t seem to be able to see any other folders.

I opened the Library tab in the Serviio software and browsed for the folders I usually keep my movies in, but I don't see these folders on my TV, just a load of generic ones. It's obviously working, so why can't I see the other folders?

I have made sure they are shared, and as I am the only user of this PC (administrator) I should have all the rights I need

Any ideas?

serviio can take 24+ hours to fully build the library for the first time, also if you want to see your movies in there original folder structure rather than the serviio sorted folders you have to select the FOLDER catagory. :)

Re: Can't see folders

Thanks Cerberus

I'll change the way I view folders and I'll leave the PC switched on for 24+ hours when I get home tonight

It seems like a long time to build the library, but as long as it works it;s ok

Cheers

Re: Can't see folders

iT'S STILL NOT WORKING UNFORTUNATELY.

I can still only see movies which are placed in the Windows Movie folder. No other folders are being picked up by the software.

I have two folders showing in the Library, each of which has one movie. It can#t take 24 hours to refresh this surely???

To resume:
Only local folder works.
Remote folder failed.
 Check the user access, and used UNC path for remote folder ( \\Buffalo\Share\Movie....., not Z:\Movie)

Re: Can't see folders

Hi Guys

Just to be perfectly honest I haven't read any manuals on how to set this up. However, the software seems very intuitive so unless I'm being a muppet (if I am I'd like to be Beaker please) there is definatley something wrong.

As I say I have placed one video file in the standard Windows Video folder <C:\Users\Danny\My Videos> which I can see on my TV through the BluRay player. I can play this without issue. I have now added a second full length movie which I can also play without issue, so the connection between my PC and BluRay player is cleary working (with the C:\drive).

I should point out when I talk about 'other drives' I'm not connected to a network, rather these are physical disks in the same PC as my C:\drive. There therefore isn't a UNC path as far as I'm aware? Even so I am selecting them from the Library tab using the Add Local command button. I then browse to where my movies are stored, tick all the checkboxes to share movies, pictures, music etc and finally Save.

When I then go to my TV and boot up the Bluray I change the device to Danny-PC, select Videos which takes me to a lot of generic folders. One of these is called All Videos so I select that one and I just see the two movie files on my C:\drive. I've made sure there are no spaces in the folder path (just in case) but it just isn't working for me.

Do I need to do something else?

Re: Can't see folders

Serviio doesn't have a folder called All Videos. Are you sure you're browsing Serviio on the player and not (for example) Windows media Player?

Re: Can't see folders

Really? Hmmm....that's strange

As far as I'm aware the only two DNLA applicaitons I have installed are Samsung PC Share Manager (which used to work before I had to reformat my hard drive and now doesn't find my BluRay player) and Serviio. With Samsung PC Manager switched off I assumed what I was seeing on my TV must be coming from Serviio. Maybe not???

OK....this points to me having set the software up incorrectly in the first place. What I did was opened the administrator console of my Virgin router to find out which devices were connected. They are;

6c:f0:49:e9:17:62 192.168.0.3 Danny-PC 0days 2hrs 34mins 53s
00:23:99:53:30:66 192.168.0.7 0days 0hrs 8mins 47s

The first address is my PC, and the second is my BluRay player. I added this second IP address (192.168.0.7) to the Renderer Profile section on the Status tab, which appears with an amber light on the left. I leave the Profile as Generic DNLA Profile before finally carrying out a Save

Is this correct?

Re: Can't see folders

On my Samsung D5300 Serviio comes up with something containing "Share" but then if I remember right it says Serviio and the computer name.

Re: Can't see folders

I had serviio version 5 and downloaded the 52 version. Everything was working fine prior to the download.

I have not adjusted any folders, nor changed any settings on either the laptop or serviio or samsung Tv.
it recognises serviio with no problem.
But the samsung series C is only bringing up 2 folders of the 5 that the previous one was bringing up.

I have even tried adding the individual folder itself but this didnt work either.
The videos are all avi but only 2 folders come up. Before the downloaded it had no problems.
Now the old version is doing the same thing.

I left serviio to add new files for over 24 hours now and still only 2 folders come up. I saw on the forum it says to look up the log.. I have no idea how to do this or where to find this.

It always stays in checking for new files.. but its not because nothing comes up after 48 hours now.

Are you able to try assist me with this please?
