Re: "Filetype not recognized" on Samsung plasma

Format profile : High@L4.2

Thanks, Samsung device may support this AVCHD format.
Or this is probably due to high AVC profile level > 4.1 ?

Re: "Filetype not recognized" on Samsung plasma

I have no idea. I'm just an average user trying to get this to work. If I read that Tversity, Twonky or Serviio claim that they support these different video formats over DLNA, I assume that it should work without me having to code COBOLT ;-) It seems these different media servers do not fully support the listed types but rather very special subsets. Sorry if I sound disappointed but so far I haven't been able to get DivX, Xvid, MKV, MTS, AVCHD or MPeg-4 to work or get transcoded by any DLNA PC solution and the Samsung 8-series is supposed to be in the frontline of these things.

Re: "Filetype not recognized" on Samsung plasma

Strange, but at least I've managed to get some file types to work now.

Findings:

- Video converter from Xilisoft produces files not suitable for DLNA except for "WMV"
- Video converter from AVS produces files not suitable for DLNA (and looks like s**)
- Video converter from Bigasoft produces some files (DivX, Xvid, Mpeg, MP4, Mov etc) that work with DLNA, except for .mkv and WMV...
- Random downloaded .avi and .mkv files works, but not all

Conclusion; DLNA is an immature and spoiled standard which requires the users to know exactly what each device wants to eat in terms of file extension, video codec, audio codec and resolution.

no that why you use transcoding so you DONT have to worry about that.
