Here is our current home playlist. If you can get here and parse any "type=playlist" reference as a new playlist / feed, then all should be gravy. If you want to know about using it with our processors, you will want to get in touch with our API developer and playlist system administrator, Turner3d@gmail dot com please. He can fill you in on how to hookup the NIPL API and throw calls to it.

I meant one that needs to use a processor, eg the vimeo video from your first example.

Everyone of the files in my movies playlist requires a processor. You can also use my music video playlist if you prefer... I understand.

Not sure we understand each other. What request do i have to make to get the comtent url. I assume it has to go through the processor somehow to get to the mp4 file.

Re: It would be nice to incorporate navi-x with serviio

Unfortunately, I do not know enough about coding to tell you this. If you can reach out to our API developer, he can tell you how it works. His e-mail is Turner3d@gmail.com

He can tell you how to bring in the URL and utilize the Navi-X processors... he developed the Navi-Xtreme playlist site and Navi-X Instructional Processor Language API. Please reach out to him for details.

If you cannot get all the necessary instructions from one of the two links below, you will have to contact Turner PLEEEEEEASE. :D
http://navix.turner3d.net/proc_docs/
http://navix.turner3d.net/proc_test/

I will ask Curt to follow up with you if you reach out to him zip. Thanks.

iRoNBiLL

P.S. I think you serve get/post requests to our processors to invoke them.

I'm guessing this means you won't be reaching out to Turner then with your questions. Well like every other project I try getting someone to consider porting Navi-X too, there never seems to be enough initiative to even ask the important questions to the right people. Tell me you didn't give up on me Zip. Have you tried reaching out to Turner or is that something you are not willing to do. Let me know please. Thanks.

Re: It would be nice to incorporate navi-x with serviio

I might do at some point but now I'm busy with a next release. Most likely I'll first implement playlist support in Serviio as it would probably be useful for integration with you guys. Quickly thinking about it it would be quite a bit of work as well, especially dealing with media technical metadata (serviio needs to know what file type it is) unless all the content always is transcoded.

So shortly - not now, will see how it goes in the future. Thanks.

Re: It would be nice to incorporate navi-x with serviio

Well... if you implement playlist support, let me know what playlist types you will support and maybe I can just convince Turner to make a parser that parses our lists into your supported playlist type. I know you can feed multiple media types with .asx playlists or .xml... let me know if either of these interest you or if you have another format in mind. Maybe we can meet in the middle on development. Thanks again for your consideration.

Re: It would be nice to incorporate navi-x with serviio

While interest in our app may have been put to the back burner, I wanted to let you all know of some recent developments for Navi-X so you know we aren't lazy. :D

A standalone version of Navi-X was recently included into Amo Boxee Remote v2 for Android, so people can now get Navi-X on their favorite Android phone or tablet. People have been raving about the Navi-X functionality in this app so if you have $5, check it out! Totally worth it from the 2 movies I streamed to it over last weekend. http://tinyurl.com/amoremote

Also, we released our Navi-X Beta for Boxee recently... details can be found here. It's definitely making waves over in our forum thread!
Here's an article on our latest Beta...
http://boxeeboxtips.com/boxee-navi-x-app-update/

Enjoy the read! I sure hope Zip is able to accomodate some sort of playlist parsing in the near future cause they we could look into bringing Navi-X into Serviio again! Thanks peeps!

Re: It would be nice to incorporate navi-x with serviio

No, but there should be nothing wrong with me simply trying to solicit interest from others for a Navi-X port to Serviio... to do this, I simply informed folks of current developments so they don't set us to the wayside for consideration... kind of like the fact you wouldn't follow up with my responses to soliciting further interest.

No hard feelings whatsoever and there shouldn't be... I was simply suggesting if anyone wants to hear more about Navi-X and perhaps soliciting interest from other developers for Navi-X for Serviio, they can check out one of latest developments here to read more. I don't even see how that could be offensive to you Zip, so what's the fuss about?

Now... if I was a jerk, I would have came here to talk about the fact Team Playon has a senior developer who is so interested in porting Navi-X to Playon, he's almost done with the port waaay before Team Serviio would even consider accomodating us with a relatively simple question about parsing xml, not even a request... but I decided the Android news would not have been as potentially harmful as telling people this instead.

I think developers who get offended or hurt over small concerns misunderstand where other developers are coming from. Let there be no misunderstanding here Zip... I'm not trying to step on your toes but you did kind of hurt me a little when you stopped following up my questions... I could tell you have very little interest in our app and that disappoints me is all.

Perhaps we can discuss what this would entail because to see one team pickup and work on our app aggressively and another not... maybe I'm missing something here is all. Team Playon is already producing screenshots... maybe we could just start by talking about parsing playlists please. Thanks again for your consideration.

Team PlayOn is probably a real team of devs on a full time basis, being paid for what they do. I'm a single dev only working on the product in my free time, so it's not fair to even compare any kind of response or dev effort. I want to get the basics right first to produce a competitive product, as well as listening to what my users want/need, then I can possibly look into integration with other services.

I did think about how to integrate with your product and as posted before it would take considerable dev effort, if even possible without drastic design changes in Serviio. All these things considered I hope you can see why working on this is not my priority ATM.

Re: It would be nice to incorporate navi-x with serviio

Forgive me Zip for seeming so pushy. I didn't think parsing XML was going to be so difficult, but then again I'm no coder so I don't know. I think maybe there is an easier way than you are thinking of to implementing Navi-X to Serviio because all it really entails is parsing XML into a list for viewing and browsing. Most of the work is done on the server side for Navi-X so I guess I figured you would not have to add modules or what not to make it work, but since your product seems to be drastically different, I guess I'm making assumptions.

Thanks again for clarifying your position on Navi-X integration. It wasn't clear to me before but it is now and I understand and respect your efforts on Serviio. Best of luck on your project!

Re: It would be nice to incorporate navi-x with serviio

I hope as time goes on that you two guys can work together to have Serviio access Navi-X. WiiMC can get at it partially and it adds a lot of rich sources to TV Viewing. It would be a great addition to Serviio but I don't think a user like myself can do much to facilitate it.

I hope Navi-x can be incorporated into Serviio. It is now ported for several other media players and is rather nice addon.

I found it to be extremely unreliable. Although there was always lots of media content available, lots of it either would not play or would cause XBMC to freeze. I eventually removed it from my XBMC.

It works well on Plex, I think it would be a great addition.

A temporary solution to this has been created. Look at the Navi-X Plugin in the available plugins section; the plugin parses using a python script.

iRoNBiLL wrote:Just adding on what I put here yesterday... I wanted to say no matter the platform, if it supports plugins, I think any media based app should look to going to as many platforms as humaly possible. Navi-X is an open-source script for XBMC originally. It's over 4 years old now and I've been working on trying to make it better with my friends on Team Navi-X. If you checked out our website already at http://www.Navi-X.org then you would know Navi-X is essentially a script/addon for XBMC and Boxee. There is also a port of sorts on WiiMC, the media center for jailbroken Nintendo Wii's but it's limited in playback. Technically, you can currently get Navi-X on several platforms using these media centers or custom applications like a media remote released recently where people who run Boxee software on their pc or Boxee Box can now stream Navi-X content directly to their Android phones and tablets. We are also working with the developer to try and get it ported to GoogleTV as well. XBMC is available on Windows, Mac, Linux, Live boot disc, iPhone 4, iPad and Apple TV 1&2. Boxee can work in some form on these tablets too. Now with the beginnings of Navi-X access on android tablets and phones and soon the set top, it's safe to say we are on all the major platforms already thanks to XBMC and Boxee porting. If you are interested in reading about the amo Boxee Remote for Android, check out http://tinyurl.com/amoremote

I recently started reaching out to folks at other lesser known projects to see if someone with coding skills in their native media environment would be willing to port Navi-X in some shape or flavor for their OS and currently we have projects running for ports on SageTV, Playon Media Server, and Showtime (media center for jailbroken PS3's).

I believe developing plugins for Serviio involves making java based plugins so please correct me if I'm wrong. I'm looking for someone in Serviio development to help us port it over. If you can get in touch with me at xiRoNBiLLx@gmail.com, I would appreciate it. If you want some framework to go off of, I can get you with Sharkhunter for PS3 Media Server who made a plugin for Navi-X or Sptuck at PlayonScripts.com... they both are working on java based ports right now.

Please feel free to ask questions if you don't find the answers at our websites. Thanks for your consideration.
