[SOLVED] Serviio and My Experiences

I bought a Sony570 blu ray player last year. I read that serviio was a good media server to use with it. I already have PlayOn, and like it, but was having problems with the Sony, no fast forward or rewind. I tried serviio and it worked great, doing what PlayOn was having trouble with. I also have a WDTV Plus in another room, and it worked fine there also. Both are wired to my router.

After a short time of use, serviio just disappeared from my list of available servers on both machines. PlayOn and WMP were still there, but not serviio. I stopped/started the server, rebooted, restarted both machines, unplugged my router did whatever, and I couldn't bring it back. So, after a while I just uninstalled serviio and chalked it up to just not working with my equipment.

Last week I thought I would give it a try again as I saw it had been updated serveral times since I last used it. I installed it, and great, all was working well. Then, yesterday, the same thing happened, serviio just disappeared from my list of servers. Again, I went though the routine of starting/stopping the server, rebooting, restarting doing what I can. I confirmed on the console it was running, and it was, but it was not visible from either media player. So, rather than just uninstalling it again, as I really want it to work, I reinstalled the software. Sure enough, it shows up again as an available server.

Why this is happening I'm not sure. Is there a setting I'm supposed to set to keep it from hiding itself? I'm using Windows 7, and since my other servers are showing up without problems, why not serviio?

Any thoughts or advice? Thanks.

Re: Serviio and My Experiences

most likely your PC doesn't have a static IP address and Serviio doesn't bind to the proper IP. Can you post the log?

Re: Serviio and My Experiences

ok, Serviio is using your Bluetooth network adapter (192.168.50.1). You have to enter the correct IP address of your network card (wired or wireless, depending how you're connected) in the console.

Then make sure your PC always gets the same IP (on your router, maybe you already have that set up)

Re: Serviio and My Experiences

Thank you for the quick reply. So I entered the 192.168.1.100 address in the "Bound IP Address" in the Console. I hit Save, then restarted the server, correct?.

I appreciate your help!

Sure, here you go:

I hope this helps others!

(Not sure what happened, I posted this earlier, but it never showed up.)
