Hello, Is it possible to connect a PC direclty to my Sony Bravia KDL40EX503, without a router, via a simple ethernet LAN cable and get things working?
Re: Directly PC to Sony Bravia?
Crosover cable, and they would have to share the same subnet and gateway I guess, so you'd have to setup the network settings manually in the TV menus.

Re: Directly PC to Sony Bravia?
Well yes, i have Ethernet cable, and I hope i have everything done properly, so my network connection has been set to tcp\ip v6 off, v4 on, ip 169.254.101.32, subnet mask 255.255.0.0, gateway - automatic. TV shows that his ip is 169.254.101.33, so there is a 1 number difference between them, and subnet and gateway are set automaticly...
in the serviio i have something like this

Re: Directly PC to Sony Bravia?
Setup seems OK. Do you see serviio on Bravia menu ?

Re: Directly PC to Sony Bravia?
I think you'll need crossover cable, not just a normal ethernet cable - as you don't have any switch between the devices.

Re: Directly PC to Sony Bravia?
Do you change the renderer name in this Sony menu section ?
Home-> Networks -> Renderer
Clean the device list in serviio console (Remove button), then save, then restart serviio service.

Do not change the renderer name !! this is the value that serviio use to automatically detect your sony device. Thanks for that check.

Why do you manually add the bravia?
Please remove all old data, save then restart serviio services (or restart your PC).
Then restart serviio console and press "refresh button".

Good.
What is the device with 192.168.0.2, your PC ? Do you change your IP address from your first post ? viewtopic.php?f=11&t=4052#p26583

And what is this IP address? Sony ?
Could you in a windows terminal check your PC IP address ? (execute cmd, then type "ipconfig /all")

Re: Directly PC to Sony Bravia?
Suggest:
PC side, fix IP address:
- 192.168.1.10
- 255.255.255.0
- 192.168.1.1
Sony side, fix IP address:
- 192.168.1.11
- 255.255.255.0
- 192.168.1.1
On serviio console, remove all device from the list.
Set "IP bound" field blank in serviio console.
Save in serviio console
Restart serviio services.
