Serviio not recognising JPGs with embedded captions

I embed captions into some JPG files using PhotoPlus SE from Serif. My Sony Bravia KDL24-EX2 recognises non-captioned JPG files but will not recognise them after the captions have been inserted. Sony say that embedding the caption changes the parameters of the JPG which makes it unrecognisable by their s/w. Does anyone know a way round this or can recommend any captioning program that would work?
Re: Serviio not recognising JPGs with embedded captions
Sony supports JPEG YCbCr 4:2:2 or 4:2:0 formats, and conforming to DCF 2.0 or Exif 2.21

Re: Serviio not recognising JPGs with embedded captions
It seems this problem is not confined to just jpgs with captions. There are several forums with threads on the peculiar Sony Bravia restriction to the type of jpg it will read, a restriction that is apparently confined to the newer models. Certainly I had no problem until upgrading to the KDL32EX520 and other brands (Samsung and Panasonic are mentioned) don't have the problem.
One solution offered for Photoshop users is to save files "for Web and Devices", which does require a reduction in image quality. From the forum threads, there seems to be some upper limit on file compression before the Bravia will recognise the files. I had success with 5 files. But when repeating the task with a number of other files, I again ran into a "brick wall" and a "Playback not possible" message (the same happens with TVersity for the same files, so it must be the Sony).
Can anyone offer a streamlined method of batch-converting jpgs that have been modified in Photoshop to bring them back to the conforming format that the Bravia requires? Why would Sony have made what appears to be a retrograde step in the new firmware? (I have no expertise in this area, so please KIS!)

I have found one solution that works, but I find it bizarre as my old Sony Bravia had none of this problem. It seems the TV will only recognise jpegs if they are presented in the original Sony camera filename format! However, it seems that is all that has to change; not the new jpeg files you have created in Photoshop. The filenames have to be in the format DSCxxxxx.jpg where xxxxx = 00001, 00002 ---00100 etc. The file size works at 1280 x 960 pixels on my Sony TV KDL32EX520. (I used a program called Lupus Rename to batch change the filenames. However, I have now found a wonderful program called TVwriter which will do it all in a very direct manner. It was designed for allowing altered jpgs to be put back onto camera memory cards, but it works for the TV input file too. See http://www.satsignal.eu/software/imaging.html)
This is all very strange to me; I have no idea what Sony are thinking to back=track on their TV's capabilities, compared to their opposition.

Not sure that filenames is important, this is probably another embedded data. TVwriter is not free !!!

Bravias only support JPEG YCbCr 4:2:2 or 4:2:0 formats, JPEG (JPEG format files with the extension “.jpg” and conforming to DCF 2.0 or Exif 2.21)
JPEG YCbCr 4:4:4 is not supported.

If you choose "Save for Web and devices" and then choose the preset named "JPEG Medium" it will show up on Sony Bravia TV's. Looks like Sony TV's do not like "High Quality" jpg images

In Photoshop you can't select this directly, but you can indirectly.
At low levels of JPEG compression (i.e. higher quality), Photoshop saves in YCbCr 4:4:4 i.e. No Chroma Sub Sampling.
Some levels of JPEG compression in Photoshop will convert the image to 4:2:0.
For example, like someone has posted above, Save for Web Medium Quality is 4:2:0.

It seems the filename must be important, as my first success was just by changing the filenames in Lupus Rename, which is all it does. But I did place them in a sub-folder 100MSDCF inside a folder labelled DCIM. All this was the first advice on how to overcome the Sony issue - the folder structure matches the Sony camera output structure.
It may well be that TVwriter does do some other processing. What is odd though is that when I was using the D-Link DSM320 media player instead of the Sony "WiFi Adapter UWA-BR100" I was able to view many files which had all been modified in Photoshop without any filename changing. This would suggest the Sony adapter is the root cause of the problem? It's all a bit weird to me. I note the more sophisticated comments on YCbCr values below which may explain why there was some randomness in the files that would display via the DSM 320.
