But there were some differences for the video stream:

- Writing library : XviD 1.2.0
- Format settings, Matrix : Default (H.263)
- Muxing mode: n/a

Thanks illico, I didn't spot those differences but look at more files that seems to be constant for files that do or don't play. Xvid libary varies but the 'transcode-1.0.6' and ' Default (H.263)' are the main issue. I'll test some more, see if I can work out what the set dislikes exactly.

Re: Sony Bravia 2011 Series

I've tested a lot of AVI files, most XVID or DIVX work regardless of the following settings:

- Writing application : transcode-1.0.6
- Writing library : XviD 1.2.0
- Format settings, Matrix : Default (H.263)
- Muxing mode: n/a

The only constant I can find is ' transcode-1.0.6' generated files are usually a problem for the tv but its not the only generator that has caused an issue. As far as a solution goes, thats going to be tough to filter out and maybe the best solution is all AVI files are transcoded to mpeg as per the 2010 profile ?

Well, I think that you could set 2011 profile by default, and when some AVI files are not supported, manually switch to 2010 profile selection.

Hi from Australia, ive got the HX820 and am having the same issue, most of the avi files that dont play are transcode, has anyone come up with a solution, is there a way we can play natively but if its ' transcode-1.0.6' let serviio transcode?

Not yet with serviio.(Not sure ffmpeg can detect the encoding writing application trancode-1.0.6)

I don't think this is an issue for Sony serious enough to spend time on.

Would be quite nice though to get a brief glimpse of what exactly Sony regards as issues at all.

Got that new firmware update, avi problem persists but then the change log doesn't say it will fix it. I might contact Sony but I think it will have very little chance of them improving compatibility.

Re: Sony Bravia 2011 Series

Hi all

I have a Sony KDL-40EX521 (correctly reported by serviio), and everything works fine, except mkv's.

When I try to watch an mkv (any mkv) i get the "temporarily cannot access server. please try again." message.

Have not edited anything in the profiles.

Kind Regards

Could you enable detailed logging file (see signature link), ffmpeg probably crashed ?

You seem to be correct. What do I need to do to fix it?

Could you invoke the same ffmpeg command line locally, and check the ffmpeg result?

No, syntax error, or write access problem on your "/tmp/Serviio" folder.
Try this:
ffmpeg -i "/var/media/fileserver/avatar.2009.1080p.bluray.x264.mkv" -y -vcodec copy -vbsf h264_mp4toannexb -copyts -acodec ac3 -ab 384k -ac 6 -map 0:0 -map 0:1 -sn -f mpegts "/tmp/Serviio/TEST_MPEG2TS.stf"

you are trying to run serviio as ROOT user this is NOT recommended and it is suggested that you run serviio under its own limted user account "serviio" if you look in the LINUX/NAS section of the support forum you will see lots more informatuion on this.
