Re: Subtitles support

Not really, tried a lot and still no success. I'd be great if some of you who have the TV and some IT knowledge could try filtering the HTTP headers to mimick those of other servers (http://bitbucket.org/xnejp03/serviio/is ... -series-tv).

Re: Subtitles support

I'll try to sniff the traffic of the official samsung DLNA software which serves the subtitles like a charm, and paste them here. I hope this helps you:)

I already have that, and for other servers too. It must be something trivial but it's hard to test when I don't have the TV here.

Re: Subtitles support

Hi, I've been trying serviio and I like it very much.
My setup is a Samsung LN40C550 connected via ethernet to an ubuntu box running the dlna server.

I am going to point out my issues but don't get me wrong I love this program, streaming works perfect even for 1080p content, cataloging of Series and movies is a great feature if improved a bit I can do without XBMC for good.

Issues: (worst first)
1. Not working .srt subtitles. (they work with miniDNLA / USB) (what about auto-fetching them like XBMC?)
2. No support for DVD menus (TV issue?) (Can transcoding/stitching help here?)
3. Not able to edit/correct metadata when it gets the wrong movie/tv series
4. RWD/FFWD not smooth on VOBs
5. Mistakenly downloads metadata for personal family videos. (Camera tag?)
6. Thumbnails for DVD movie covers look stretched
7. Scrolling down from a page to the next is a bit slow. (miniDNLA is much faster but without thumbnails)

Thanks for your great work.
Let me know if I can help you debug/fix any of the issues.

See post above.

2. No support for DVD menus (TV issue?) (Can transcoding/stitching help here?)

No idea what you mean here ;-)

3. Not able to edit/correct metadata when it gets the wrong movie/tv series

This will never be a part of the software. There will be, however, integration with other products that provide metadata (and you can edit them using those tools), like Swisscenter.

5. Mistakenly downloads metadata for personal family videos. (Camera tag?)

You can uncheck metadata search for each shared folder. organize your videos that way so that your personal videos are all in one root folder, share that and disable metadata searching for it.

6. Thumbnails for DVD movie covers look stretched

Are you on Samsung TV or BluRay player? They work normal on my TV.

7. Scrolling down from a page to the next is a bit slow. (miniDNLA is much faster but without thumbnails)

0.4.1 is pretty fast I think. Obviously it takes a few ms to download the thumbnails.

Re: Subtitles support

I've finally managed to make subtitle work on my Samsung TV C series!

After many hackings on headers or on soap messages, i've tried dumb solutions.

In fact, Samsung seems to detect if a resource url is a subtitle by its extension :?
For example,
/resource/1/SUBTITLE is KO
/resource/1/SUBTITLE.srt is OK

Zip, I will PM you my mods.

Re: Subtitles support

Kairoh, do you care to post an explanation on how you got the subtitles working? Not sure how long it will take for 0.4.2, but I'd rather have the function working right now :D.

P.S. zip, thanks for the awesome app! Works awesome for my C5100.

Re: Subtitles support

You'd have to decompile and change the code. I hope having 0.4.2 out within a week (it's in late beta testing stage now)

Re: Subtitles support

I just tried ver 0.42 and the subs are working, BUT on my player (BD-C5500) the Subtitle button does nothing using Serviio. With PCSM when I can adjust sync (+- sec) and change encoding if needed using the menu from this button.

Luiz Borges

PS: I don't know if that behavior is by desing, but on my player when I select Videos/Music/Image on the player, Serviio asks me again showing 3 folders (Video/Music/Image) to select. Should I create a bug report about it?

Re: Subtitles support

Yes, they have additional subtitles functionality that is specific to their software and I won't be replicating.

Regarding the menu, it's normal, not a bug.

Re: Subtitles support

Doesn't seem to be working for me yet. Am I doing something wrong?
Got a Samsung UE32C5100, subtitle setting doesn't show via DLNA, but does when I use USB. Also, the filename is the same as the video's.

Re: Subtitles support

Hi Guys,

First of all: I love Serviio. Before I've used several other programs but this one is by far the fastests and user friendly. :D :D

But... I also have the problem that subtitles do not show up. My television is a Sony Bravia KDL-32W5500 and I run Serviio 0.4.2. The subtitles are in a SRT file and de filename is equal to the movie name. On my television the subtitles can not be switched on/off by hand.

Any clues or do you need more information for solving this issue.

Regards,
Pieter

Re: Subtitles support

I don't think Bravia's support external subtitles.
