0.6.1 - no more subtitles?

Hi All,

Just downloaded 0.6.1 the other day, and have just noticed that I can't turn subtitles on/off anymore. Streaming directly off the Win7 PC via wifi to my Sammy PS58C7000, used to enable/disable subtitles by pressing Tools on the remote and then "Subtitle Setting". There is now no "Subtitle Setting" in the Tools menu. Have tried with a movie I watched only a few days ago using 0.6.0.1 (which I was definitely able to activate subtitles on then), and have double checked and confirmed the .srt file with identical name is still in the folder. Do I need to revert back to 0.6.0.1 or have I missed something?

this maybe one for zip because as far as i know nothing to do with subs was changed in latest version.

Are you still using the correct profile?

I'm having the same problem here. Using the same profile as before. Just upgraded to the latest version 6.1 and can't see the subtitles anymore.

I've just restored serviio to an older version and subtitles were back.

I think I am...

I followed the instructions for the update, over the top of the old in the same install folder. Didn't change any other settings, so I didn't manually change the profile.

Had some issues also with movie titles post-update - about 7 movies (out of ~320) which all previously had correct titles and art became "Movies, Aspirin and Vultures" but a tweak or two to the filenames sorted that.

When you click Tools button on the remote can you see Caption settings (to turn them on/off/ set size, etc)?

Try to edit the C/D profile and replace DeviceDescription block with this:

  Code:
<DeviceDescription>
           <ExtraElements>
              <sec:ProductCap>smi,DCM10,getMediaInfo.sec,getCaptionInfo.sec</sec:ProductCap>
            <sec:X_ProductCap>smi,DCM10,getMediaInfo.sec,getCaptionInfo.sec</sec:X_ProductCap>
           </ExtraElements>
        </DeviceDescription>

Re: 0.6.1 - no more subtitles?

I have the same problem with "Samsung TV / player (C/D Series)" profile:

Upgraded to 0.6.1 in place and Subtitles cannot be switched off.

Fixed it by leaving 0.6.1 installed and manually rolling back ONLY the profiles.xml file (from profiles.xml.bak which I assume was created by inplace upgrade?)

Now I can turn subtitles off/on from TV.

Guess it must be something in the profiles.xml that's stopping the option coming up on the TV.

Re: 0.6.1 - no more subtitles?

Yep, that was it.

Put back profile.xml that comes with 0.6.1 and updated those lines and now it's all good.

Re: 0.6.1 - no more subtitles?

Yes, correct. With version 0.6.1 software, 0.6.1 profiles.xml file and the modified profile lines - I now get the subtitle menu when I click the tools button, it allows me to turn them on/off and adjust size etc...

Cool. I think I'll have to release a new point release with a couple fixes, this included.

Re: 0.6.1 - no more subtitles?

Hi!

I couldn't play subs with the 0.6.0.1 either.

After reading this post I updated to 0.6.1 and removed all "Render Profiles" in det Serviio Console. My Samsung C-Series was set back to "Generic DLNA Profile" as it shows Unrecognized device under "Device Name". I manually changed that back to Samsung C/D Series Profile.

I also changed these two lines (line 400 in my profiles.xml)
<sec:ProductCap>smi,getMediaInfo.sec,getCaptionInfo.sec</sec:ProductCap>
<sec:X_ProductCap>smi,getMediaInfo.sec,getCaptionInfo.sec</sec:X_ProductCap>

with the suggestion from zip from the post above. Btw those lines were as zip showed them in my backup file too, so they got changed with the 0.6.1 release

But after doing all this I still have no subtitles.

Does anybody have more ideas, should I turn on debugging somewhere to get more data to find the problem?

Cheers
Mic

Re: 0.6.1 - no more subtitles?

Sorry Zip. Seems to be my fault. After turning on debugging it works again.

But I still wonder, why the TV shows up as "Device Name": "Unrecognized device" in Render Profile
Image

The corresponding Log entry:

2012-01-08 18:01:05,231 DEBUG [WebServer] Incoming connection from /192.168.1.78:56804
2012-01-08 18:01:05,232 DEBUG [DeviceDescriptionRequestHandler] DeviceDescription request received for device bbc6a524-57f0-35ff-81b1-3e1398669727 from 192.168.1.78 (headers = [HOST: 192.168.1.66:8895,USER-AGENT: SEC_HHP_TV-37C5100/1.0,ACCEPT-LANGUAGE: en-us])
2012-01-08 18:01:05,232 DEBUG [RendererDAOImpl] Reading a Renderer with ip address 192.168.1.78
2012-01-08 18:01:05,233 DEBUG [RendererManager] Looking for a renderer profile for Http headers: [HOST: 192.168.1.66:8895,USER-AGENT: SEC_HHP_TV-37C5100/1.0,ACCEPT-LANGUAGE: en-us]

So 37C5100 in the User-Agent refers to my Samung (UE-37C5100)

Hope that helps and thanks for the quick reply!

Cheers

Re: 0.6.1 - no more subtitles?

Did you give the TV a new display name (in the TV's settings)? That's what is used promarily for profile matching.

Re: 0.6.1 - no more subtitles?

Nope, I didn't change the TV Name.

I think it was just an Windows interface update problem. After restarting my PC for the second time today (installed some other drivers) it finally shows "Samsung DTV MDR" in "Device Name".

So again: My mistake :-)

Cheers
