Re: FTP
yer that what i though, feature it not required, as there are litteraly 1000s of FTP programs out on market that you can use to add file to your server from your PC ( green line ) as for sending it to the device as only 5% of devices even support or are capable of doing that it totaly pointless and unneeded.

I don't mean Serviio uploading file to server. Serviio getting(download) file from Server, indexing and stream(upload) it to TV.

why would it need to ?
1. TV doesn't have feature to play file online and access server.
2. Don't have to download large files to PC and waiting it finish for play it on TV.
3. Serviio act same like proxy and files transcoder on the fly
4. Serviio able to save downloaded original file on local PC if needed while transcoding.
I will update new reason later or maybe not

This is not about lazy but the internet speed connection. I using 2 mbps ADSL (Very slow isn't it?). Downloading 4 GB file might took 8 hours according my experience. Too long right?
This feature for slow connection users
Re: FTP
This is basically online content streaming using ftp protocol (instead of http for example). You could probably get around it by creating a RSS feed of your files on the FTP server and make them available over http on a Apache server.
Not ideal but might work for now.

Re: FTP
After a week trying to configure according your suggestion the result is not working. I really hope someday this feature will be implemented on Serviio. At least as an optional. This feature is needed for people who have storage on FTP server. Maybe my request too early for Serviio in BETA productions
Not to forget that not all people have high speed internet connection
