Random disconnect when streaming online content

HI,

First of all I want to congratulate you for the good job you done with this software. I ran trough many media servers but no one works better than Serviio. I am writing you about a problem I am trying to solve from the beginning of my usage of Serviio (I am a new user - 2 weeks). My TV is Samsung UE32C5000 and I am connected to my router with a cable (not using Wi Fi to stream movies). Anyway I notticed that when stream online content (Online RSS/ Atom Feed) the player just disconnects randomly. I can reproduce this behaviour every time when I watch some video from You Tube. The interesting thing is that the first time I play the video - it disconnects somewere at the middle, or a minute before the end (not at the same place each time), but when it disconnects me the first time and I play it again - it pass without problems. This is happning with all of the online videos I try to watch. Please note that I do not have issues with streaming movies from my PC - the problem is just with the online content. I searched into the knowledge base for Samsung TV into the Support Forum, but was not able to find someone who has the same problem as mine. So could you please look into this and let me know what I need to do in order to rectify this issue and to able to watch my favourite videos over the internet (You Tube)?

P.S. As I said I am a new user of Serviio, anyway i tried to search into the log file (C:\Program Files\Serviio\log) but was not able to find something which seems related with my problem - 95% sure that I miss something, so if you could point me where to look so I could provide you more helpful information which could help you to resolve my problem, I will be very gratefull.

Thanks in advance,
Krasi

Re: Random disconnect when streaming online content

My compliments as well for a very good software which is way far better then any other software i have used.
keep on doing a great job.

I'm experiencing the same problem with HD wildlife videos. with YouTube HD i hardly have a problem. with other HD videos
they got stuck every few minutes and I'm getting a message "loading" for 10-20 seconds and then the videos continues.

Are there any definitions that could solve this?

Re: Random disconnect when streaming online content

Thanks Cerberus, anyway could you please be more specific on where exactly to look at.

I followed all topics from the WIKI (if installed on Windows machine) but no result. Please note that my Router is Netgear WGT 624 v3 (not sure if I use the latest firmware but I have updated it several months ago). I do not have any network issues when wathching the RSS/Atom feed presets from the WIKI (Online streams) - my issues are only with youtube. My PC where Serviio is installed have reserved IP address 192.168.1.5 and my TV too (192.168.1.10). I also tried to watch youtube on low quality but the result is the same - the video was interrupted several minutes later (only the quality was bad :( ).

Regards,

Random disconnect when streaming online content

I've got samsung c series tv connected via lan cable to a linksys router and serviio is running on linux connected via lan cable to the router.
No problem with film or other media, only with youtube feeds the tv randomly disconnects and says no lan connection

youtube issue i have answered earlier (0.6.2 + latest youtube plugin), and as for your disconnects that is more than liekly down to your linksys router not being about to cope with the stream or you are doing alot of downloading/uploading at same time as streaming and crushing the pipe, that why we recommend Wired Gb lan connection for best performance ( Then you have more bandwidth aka bigger pipe ).

Re: Random disconnect when streaming online content

Unfortunately I have the latest version of Serviio and downloaded the plugin for youtube from 7th 02 2012 but the result is the same. It still disconnects me randomly. Do you have any other things that I could try.

What about the rest from this thread, do you guys have the same issues after you followed Cerebrus instructions?

What is "wired gb lan connection"?
I don't do any up/download during stream.

Ok. I didn't understand "gb".
I've got a 100Mbps LAN not a 1000Mbps.
The router accepts 1000Mbps but the Samsung TV and the pc have a 100Mbps network card.
So what is the advantage to have a Gigabit when the TV only accepts 100Mbps?
