I've enabled the logging and I will post the log when another BSOD occurs.
Re: Serviio causes blue screen in win7x64
logs wont help.
memory test
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/71 ... -tool.html
you can also try this as it seems this file can cause bsod issues.
- Go to Start > Run and type in msconfig
- In the System Configuration Utility, click on the Startup tab
- Scroll down to "jusched"
You should see to the right of jusched it should reside in the c:\program files\java\... folder. It can be disabled here by taking the tick out of the box, and Java can be updated manually.

Last night I ran a memory test with extended test mix. The test took 8 hours, no errors found.
You also suggested to disable the jusched item in the System Configuration Utility.
Why should I disable it when the problem only pops up when Serviio is enabled? I agree with you if you want me to disable it when the PC generates a BSOD even when Serviio is disabled.

ok there not much i can do to help you if you wont run tests i ask, serviio DOES NOT cause your issue, if it was a serviio problem we would have hundred and hundreds of user complaining about it not to mention the beta test team would have seen this before you even got ahold of the release, now i can help you get to bottom of it but if u refuse to do as i ask there nothing i can do to help you.

Re: JAVA causing blue screen isssues in Win 7x64
There is deffinatly something wrong with this version of serviio, the previous version didn't cause BSODs. My system is fully stable, IT IS serviio causing the problem. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/For ... e2f19d0bb7 Even microsoft says it's serviio.
This needs a bug fix!
Oh and googling found a whole tonne of results of people with the latest version causing a BSOD.

Rubbish it most certainly is not, its something odd either in your setup or hardware, more than liek as i have stated several time java. Now if you want to keep insisting that serviio is to blame rather than posting anything constructive for me to help you sort your problem my only advise would be to uninstall serviio and try another DLNA server that might be more to your liking.

Did you even read that guys post? the minidump clearly states that serviio caused the bsod. Why sweep this under the carpet instead of finding a solution?

Actually that moderator is clearly not intrested in helping you as he completely missed the actual error in that minidump
DEFAULT_BUCKET_ID: VISTA_DRIVER_FAULT
its actually down to a faulty/outdated driver installed on your pc more than likely your graphocs card driver.
how can i sweep something under the VIRTUAL carpet that doesnt exist.

Are you using online sources? What's your Java version? Does this happen during streaming only? Did ou try a newer version of FFmpeg?

Since someone has changed the topic title to "JAVA ....", is it confirmed from the Serviio developers that it actually is Java, or?

Re: JAVA causing blue screen isssues in Win 7x64
@drgz & JustinSane - have you even tried the steps i have given ?
i asked for title to be changed as its not serviio causing this issue, and this is why.
A BSoD, or Blue Screen of Death, is a term commonly used to refer to the nice blue screen with generally useless debug information that Windows generates when it crashes.
BSoD is usually caused by faulty drivers or faulty hardware components (like RAM memory). Usual suspect are network drivers and USB drivers (especially is you have either a USB network card or an external USB drive).
It is not likely that a high-level java software (like Serviio) could cause a BSoD by itself, as it doesn't touch the operating system core and has no direct access to the hardware resources. However, java can cause so much load to the system that already has existing faults in hardware or in drivers surface. For example, transferring large files can cause (over)load to the network chip and its drivers, causing some bug there to surface.
Possible fixes:
1. You should check from the BSoD screen which driver has crashed. The "faulting module" is usually displayed there.
2. Then seek to update that driver through WindowsUpdate, although WindowsUpdate does not usually contain the quite newest driver.
3. Even better, try to find the newest driver directly from device manufacturers site (E.g. for network chips: Intel, Realtek, Broadcom, ...)
(You should also update Java, so that the fixes for known faults in the underlying Java interpreter are applied)
i can even give example of other software that have commonly been mistaken in causing BSOD but actual they havent.

Re: JAVA causing blue screen isssues in Win 7x64
Well, I did run a memory check (memtest) that lasted for hours, and no error was found. I also ran a memory test that is included with the BIOS on my laptop, and nothing there either. As far as I know, I have all the newest drivers for all of my hardware (maybe except my external drive?), but the BSOD occured both when having the drive connected and not: why would I experience a BSOD due to the driver of the external drive when it's not in use?
So I really can't see which of your suggestions I haven't tried yet. But if you have any more just scream out and I'll see what I can do.

Found that I had the second newest driver for my (w)lan adapter (couple of months old). Will give it another go next week and see.

Hi,
I've disabled the jushed item in msconfig.
Today another BSOD apeared on my PC so disabling the auto updater of java doesn't seem to be the solution.
(The last 3 weeks most of the time my PC was turned off so that's why this reply comes a little late)
Any other suggestions?
Thanks!
Re: JAVA causing blue screen isssues in Win 7x64
Think I'll just have use something else than Serviio. I've updated everything that can be updated, I've run all checks that I can think of, but I still get the BSOD when running Serviio. Strange thing is that I never get a BSOD when I run Samsung Allshare; thus, I can't say that I'm convinced it my PC or my system when this only occurs when running Serviio.
