Re: Help wanted for SMP-N100 and live streaming

What bothers me is that the mpeg, sky news, you can watch it find on the smp-n100, and then when you run it with ffmpeg -i it doesn't matter if it has quotes or not...

Re: Help wanted for SMP-N100 and live streaming

Yeah, it doesn't make sense. And why only M2TS live streams don't work is very frustrating. I've asked another user on serviio.org to look into this since they have a lot of knowledge about the profiles.xml stuff also. Maybe it has to do with transcoding.

Have you tried an older version of serviio, maybe before they combined the profiles of the BD player and the SMP?

Re: Help wanted for SMP-N100 and live streaming

No, just have the newest 0.6.2

It may have something to do with the transcoding in the profiles.xml file, because when I changed the profile of SMP-N100 to generic, it didn't even see any M2TS files on the SMP-N100 listing.

Re: Help wanted for SMP-N100 and live streaming

This is something that happens here too, but I use the Sony BDP-S373. MPEG-streams work all the time, but M2TS only seldom. When I finally have a working stream, it's impossible to access the same stream a few minutes later: the Sony stops working and reboots after a few minutes (what happens when I access most of the M2TS streams).

Re: Help wanted for SMP-N100 and live streaming

I changed Sony SMP-N100 profile in the Serviio Console to 5 other profiles hoping the M2TS live streams would play:

Generic DLNA profile
Playstation 3
Sony Bravia TV (2009)
Sony Bravia TV (2010)
Sony Bravia TV (2011)

Unfortunately, when I tried the Sony SMP-N100 with any of these profiles entered from Serviio Console, it never showed any M2TS live streams listings in the online folder.

So, only the Sony BD Player / SMP profile actually shows the M2TS live stream listings in the online folder. As usual, when I chose one to play, it failed about 90% of the time. :cry:

Re: Help wanted for SMP-N100 and live streaming

Does anyone have any other ideas we could try on this frustrating problem?

Problem: Sony SMP-N100 only plays M2TS live streams intermittently or about only 10% of the time. Every other attempt results in rebooting the Sony SMP-N100.

I think it might have something to do with the profiles.xml file, but not really sure.

I've now turned on detailed logging again and will try to pin down exactly what is going on in the log when this problem happens.
I turned on detailed logging before but couldn't see any errors at that time.

If anyone has good knowledge of working with these profiles, we would appreciate your help in resolving this.

Thanks.

Re: Help wanted for SMP-N100 and live streaming

If you press the display on button on the remote control when you get the screen with the channel's name, then you can see the speed at which the video is being stream.

Generally what I've found is anything above 4.0Mbps locks up, also if you get the audio, top left part, on Mbps, it also lock up.

Here is the section of the debug log that has the error:

Re: Help wanted for SMP-N100 and live streaming

Thanks for the detailed logs. I will look thru them and try to make some sense of it and see if there's anything we could maybe change in the profiles.xml to make this work.

Reading thru the serviio.log file, I don't really see an error appearing. It looks like it just starts transcoding the file thru ffmpeg, but no errors are reported as far as I can tell.

Reading thru your ffmpeg details, the bitrate says N/A, but I didn't see any errors here either.

But, I am not an expert and am just a newbie to Serviio, so there are things in those files I may not be seeing.

I also turned on the Sony SMP-N100's on-screen display right before starting a M2TS live stream to view the Video and Audio bitrates, before it usually reboots.

Re: Help wanted for SMP-N100 and live streaming

Have you tried removing maxvbitrate=17000 from the config file for h264?

Before I removed "maxVBitrate=17000" from profiles.xml, I was able to play the M2TS live stream intermittently,and with Sony SMP-N100 OSD (on screen display) enabled, it reported:

1.0Mbps AVC with audio as Dolby Digital 2.0ch 44.1kHz 384kbps

Here's the modified profiles.xml file after I removed "maxVBitrate=17000":
  Code:
</Video>
         <!-- h264 videos with high/main profile level > 4.1 will be transcoded to mpegts with mpeg2video and ac3 audio -->
         <!-- 031112 removed maxVBitrate="17000" from next line to see if M2TS live streams will play -->
         <Video targetContainer="mpegts" targetVCodec="mpeg2video" targetACodec="ac3" aBitrate="320">
            <Matches container="avi" vCodec="h264" profile="high" levelGreaterThan="4.1" />
            <Matches container="avi" vCodec="h264" profile="main" levelGreaterThan="4.1" />
            <Matches container="matroska" vCodec="h264" profile="high" levelGreaterThan="4.1" />
            <Matches container="matroska" vCodec="h264" profile="main" levelGreaterThan="4.1" />
            <Matches container="mp4" vCodec="h264" profile="high" levelGreaterThan="4.1" />
            <Matches container="mp4" vCodec="h264" profile="main" levelGreaterThan="4.1" />
            <Matches container="mpegts" vCodec="h264" profile="high" levelGreaterThan="4.1" />
            <Matches container="mpegts" vCodec="h264" profile="main" levelGreaterThan="4.1" />
            <Matches container="matroska" vCodec="vp8" />

After I removed "maxVBitrate=17000" from profiles.xml file in code listed above, the M2TS live stream was still just as intermittently able to play about 10% of the time as before, but now, before showing the actual stream (black screen), the Sony SMP-N100 OSD (on screen display) showed 2.0Mbps, then 3.0Mbps and varied on these levels where before, it never showed any video bitrate until the M2TS live stream actually started playing.

If you tried this, did it make any difference when you tried to play M2TS live streams?

Thanks.

Re: Help wanted for SMP-N100 and live streaming

Have you looked at the audiocodec: mp4a.
I think it has to do with that.
The channel I'm testing with also has mp4a as audiocodec.
I'm trying to understand the PS3 profile as reference.

I just removed aBitrate="320" from that same line, but it made no difference.

I'll look at the audiocodec:mp4a as that shows up on the M2TS live stream channel I'm testing with too.
