ASUS Transformer TF201 & Serviio...

Just bought one of these Tablets and noticed the MyNet app could see my Serviio server on my PC. So I opened up a few file types to see what's what. Firstly Serviio see the TF201 as a Generic Device (which is fair enough as their is no profile for it.)

Anyway the TF201 & MyNet successfully displayed JPG images, played mp3 audio files and XVID Videos. It also played MKV files (picture no sound).

In order to make it completely compatible with Serviio I assume I need to create a profile for it for what it can and cannot play?

There are some android threads as well as a section on the wiki with info on the best app to use which you should look at, but something like bubbleUpnp + mkvideo player etc should play most content from what I remember.

The problem you said is really a little annoying. But it can play MKV files. That sounds good,MKV files is high-quality movie files.I like them.I usually download MKV instead of RMVB files.

Good luck to you.

Re: ASUS Transformer TF201 & Serviio...

I had a look at some of the apps in the link above but none of them seemed to have the ability to "connect" to Serviio running on my PC! :?

Running ASUS MyNET app MKV files play (just without sound). The files contain DD5.1 sound so I assume the issue is that this is being passed to the ASUS MyNET app and it does not have a decoder to deal with it. Ideally I need profile that does a down mix on all surround sound formats to stereo (as the Tablet only has stereo in any case). I have not done enough investigations yet on how to do this.

I ran the Upnp tool to see what the TF201 and MyNET would support, but it never appeared in the list! :( It's not on the database either!

When I get more time I have a play at creating a profile for it...

Re: ASUS Transformer TF201 & Serviio...

I have a TF201 also. My focus is on playing recorded TV files from windows media center. With UPnPlay and several movie players, I can get sound and video, but the playback stutters. Playback is fine if I copy the wtv file onto the tablet, so I think the problem is insufficient wifi BW compared to the wtv bitrate. I set up a transcoding profile to lower the bitrate and that seems to work. However, I can no longer fast forward past the commercials. That is a big negative for me.

I gave up on MyNet quickly since it seems clueless about wtv files. I am also interested in playing DVD and BluRay content. If I rip them to MKV files (with MakeMKV), I think it should work, but I expect BR rips would have a similar bitrate problem.

Good luck!

I have the same problem. I'm going to test a few things to find out what could be causing the issue.

1 install mediatomb on another Linux VM and see if it works With that.
2 play with the profiles and see if the issue can be fixed that way.

If anyone else has already done this I would appreciate hearing about it.
