What is Serviio Console sharing?

I have Serviio 0.6.2 installed on my PC. And I don't have any Shared Folders or Online sources added, which is, I don't have any files to be shared.

In my network monitoring tool, I find Serviio Console is downloading and uploading, connecting to a number of peers, just like P2P file sharing.

Just wondering what Serviio Console is sharing with other Internet peers? How could this behavior happen by default without the consent from the user?

Thanks a lot!

Re: What is Serviio Console sharing?

Can you post your serviio.log file. It might be connections to the themoviedb and the tvdb.

Re: What is Serviio Console sharing?

I checked the log file at INFO level (I did not enable DEBUG mode), and nothing is strange there.

I fully checked all the processes, and doubt the other streaming app might cause the problem: either it attaches on other processes to share its data (virus-like behavior), or it causes the network monitoring app to mistakenly display the info.

I will further monitor my PC for a few days and report back.

Console doesn't make any calls outside your network, it only talks to the service which possibly runs on the same PC. I don't recognize these ports either.

Curious .. could these be simply updated connections that Serviio makes to the online library (ESPN, Cinemax etc..)

I do not recognize the ports ... Glad to know Servio is not P2P !

Re: What is Serviio Console sharing?

Console doesn't make these connections, the server does. Console is only there to talk to the server.

Re: What is Serviio Console sharing?

Hey, as I suspected, there was nothing wrong with Serviio Console for the captured file sharing behavior. It was caused by the streaming accelerator of a video sharing application, which seems to attach to other network processes to avoid networking blocking, some sort of virus-like behavior. It has been confirmed the accelerator attaches upon at least firefox too.

I sent an inquiry message in their official website, they did not reply; nor did they deny it.

As Network Administrator and Software Engineer, I should have made a little more cautious investigation before I posted here questioning Serviio.

I apologize for the inconvenience and confusion, and thanks a lot for your offering such an excellent DLNA server, which fully replaces Samsung AllShare for my Bluray player.
