Live Streaming

I don't know if this will work, but I wanted to give it a shot... I don't subscribe to a cable provider and would like to be able to watch a sporting event that is streaming online. They are typically streaming in a flash player so I would be dealing with .flv files.

Would I need certain plugins to be able to attempt streaming a game over my network?

This may be all for naught seeing as I don't think xbox360 supports .flv playback. None the less, It could be useful to attempt this using my acer iconia android tab.

Also, a step by step walk-through would ease this newbie's mind if anyone could rough one up.

Thanks for reading,

Re: Live Streaming

You should read the documentation (Big Serviio above) and appropriate parts of the wiki and then read thru the plugin posts and the video streams threads. No need to rough up a guide when the info is already there with a bit of effort on your part.

Re: Live Streaming

Very true and I apologize... I should have stated it as such that I need pointed in the right direction.

I'll get started with your suggestions and come back with questions if needed.

Re: Live Streaming

I did a small bit of reading in the wiki(very informative). before I continue... if I can't get the stream URL to work in VLC 2.0 is this a lost cause?

any suggestions to improve my chances of success?

Re: Live Streaming

I would say yes, but the real test is ffmpeg -i or ffplay -i which is what I use, because it maps Serviio.

Re: Live Streaming

Ok, am i doing something wrong?

I went into the lib folder to open ffmpeg to enter the "ffmpeg -i" command but the command prompt closes just as fast as I clicked on it.

Re: Live Streaming

Ok, I'm not to versed in using the command prompt but I tried different ways to do as the wiki said and always got "'C:\Program' is not a recognized internal or external path or batch file"

when I start the prompt it looks like this:

C:\Documents and Settings\"my name"\>

is this not proper for getting to the lib folder?
