[SOLVED] Serviio Disappeared off My Sony TV

hi,

Been using Serviio ever since I got my Sony KDL-40CX520 last year - back then it installed fine and found the TV- Serviio icon displayed and all my shared media showed up on the TV without any problems.

A couple of weeks ago, the serviio icon disappeared off the screen on the Sony. Checked the console and the TV had gone from the renderer profile too. Tried restarting the server several time and refreshing the renderer- the only thing that showed up on there was 'unknown device 192.168.238.238' which is my satellite TV card. Checked everything was allowed through my (windows) firewall - it was. I even stopped my anti virus and Webroot Secure Anywhere to see if it was those causing the issue... still no joy. My computer IP is static

Uninstalled the programme and tried again, all with the same results. In desperation I installed a trial version of another program (Mezzmo) and that works perfectly. ON the TV the only think that the Sony recognises is the Mezzmo server-

I have just uninstalled, cleared any 'residue' from the registry and re-installed again and the situation remains the same -
I have posted the log underneath and also a couple of low res screengrabs- one of my network screen, the other how the serviio staus screen looks

Hope I've covered everything - hope someone can help!!

Re: Serviio Disappeared off My Sony TV

So you have two NIC :
- 192.168.238.238
- 192.168.0.150
Don't know how is your network configuration/connection. But you can try to set 192.168.0.150 on "Bound IP address" on serviio status console.

Re: Serviio Disappeared off My Sony TV

Yep, the 192.168.238.238 is my satellite TV card.... the other is my 'internet' network.. I have bound the 192.168.0.150 on Serviio, makes no difference.. I have tried rebooting the router, re-setting the TV to factory default....the only server that shows up on the Sony is Mezzmo -don't even see the Windows Media Server

Re: Serviio Disappeared off My Sony TV

bit of an update.. on the Sony, I just hit 'server Diagonstics' on the Sony... the result was it found the Mezzmo server 'Succeeded' and also gave a 'failed' against 'Server Name Unknown' which was labelled 192.168.0.150 - strangely it found the 192.168.0.150 twice! That is an improvement I guess as previously, it only found Mezzmo...

Re: Serviio Disappeared off My Sony TV

Since you have multiple active nics, i will suggest making "Local Area Network" connection which appears to be your 192.168.0.X interface where the renderers and serviio server are, the top priority.

windows -> Control Panel -> Network and sharing center -> Change Adapter Settings -> Advanced (tools menu) ->Advanced Settings -> Move the your 192.168.0 connection to the top of the list by using up arrow. Say "oK" to save it. Reboot the computer and give serviio a try again. Lets see if that works.

Re: Serviio Disappeared off My Sony TV

Thanks for the reply

my windows set up must be a bit different to yours (I'm on Vista 32 bit) = I don't have a 'control panel>network and internet>network connections' on my control panel but I do have 'control panel/'network connections' which I think takes me to much the same place- i moved the 'local area connection' to the top and saved that.

First difference I noticed that button on the serviio console window had turned from green to red - a good sign I thought...however when I went to the TV to refresh the network connections, it found nothing..

I feel like I must be very close - just missing 'something'..

Re: Serviio Disappeared off My Sony TV

thanks for the update. Could you plz post the new log? i am particularly interested in line below form your previous post as before serviio was using eth3 192.168.238.238 instead of other.
  Code:
2012-06-09 09:22:56,523 INFO [DiscoverySSDPMessageListener] Starting DiscoverySSDPMessageListener using interface eth3 (TechniSat DVB-PC TV Star PCI) and address 192.168.238.238, timeout = 0

Also, could you temporarily disable Network Connection 2, restart serviio and see if binds to "Network connection" instead "Network connection 2"? One last thing, lets move IPv6 from top to bottom in for "File and Print Sharing" in "Network Connection", no impact in serviio as serviio uses tcpip but still wanted to cover all the bases.

Re: Serviio Disappeared off My Sony TV

ok.. done all of that...

some changes....screengrab of the console window below...the 192.168.0.4 if the IP address of the Sony TV

HOWEVER

Go to the TV, on server display settings .. I see 'Serviio - Andys PC' and 'Andys PC-Andys Media' on there.. however, both are 'greyed out' - when I click on details - the 'Serviio' line shows an IP address of 192.168.0.150 - the 'Andys PC' line shows 'no information' on the IP line

What all this means, I'm not sure but I feel we must be close to resolving this now!!!

Re: Serviio Disappeared off My Sony TV

That screen shot tells me it is now working.

How are trying access your medias - i believe you will have to go to HOME -> image or Audio or Video Container -> then drill down to your library folders and then to your media source(s). I am not sure what you meant by display settings.

Re: Serviio Disappeared off My Sony TV

To access media I go to the audio/video/pictures menu- but when you go there the options to access are greyed out (When it is working you get the yellow serviio logo, when it isn't there is just a generic computer logo in grey).. when you click on it says 'connecting to server' but it fails to connect.

Re: Serviio Disappeared off My Sony TV

Sorry - long day.

i see two entries for 104. Can you delete both of them and let it re-discover it again? Also, could you please delete/refresh the media servers from sony -> Media servers (i think) menu?

Other thing to check to see if your firewall is blocking broadcast traffic. Similarly if you have SPI firewalled router - temporarily disable it to see if that's the culprit. If you have DoS filter attack enabled either in PC or router - that sometime causes DLNA broadcast traffic not to get to the intended targets.

Re: Serviio Disappeared off My Sony TV

I think we have cracked it!!!

I'd noticed some odd activity with my Windows Firewall - it seemed to keep switching itself off. I uninstalled my Avira antirus and the Webroot security program I had on the system too and re booted...Windows firewall was off but I re-started it...I am allowing the Serviio console through it.. check the Serviio Console window and I only had two entries showing,

192.168.0.150 Windows Media Player - Generic DNLA Profile
192.168.0.4 KDC-40Cx520 - Somy Bravia TV (2011)

switched the TV on- went to the 'Music' tab on the Sony.. lo and behold the Serviio logo is lit up like a (yellow) Christmas tree!! Ran the server diagnostics on the Somy and it brought up both of these as well.. YES.. GET IN!!

My concern then was about getting my PC secure and my TV card operational again while retaining the server connection to the TV. I reinstalled Avira- no problem.. I enabled the TV card in Device Manager- that started working ok and the server connection didn't stop...

So, it looks like it might have been something in the Webroot that was causing the issues. I won't be re-installing that in a hurry but I've got my firewall and antivirus running along with a spyware checker that I know is reliable.

Thanks for all your help.. I really do appreciate all the effort you've put in to resolving this....when the next person comes on here with the same problem- ask them if they are running Webroot Security products!!!
