Re: ServiiGo - Android 3G/Wifi Playback App - Beta

OK. I've done most of the minor things now (see changelog on the new site), do you want a new release with those improvements now, or do you want to wait for the end of next weekend with the more major additions.

Re: ServiiGo - Android 3G/Wifi Playback App - Beta

I have checked the changelog. Both are good for me, if you have time you can make a release, but I can also wait till next weekend. ;)

Hmm... Am I the only one testing this app? The rest of betatesters have no opinion about ServiiGo? :?

Done. Should also remove the possibility of the FC you had before.
  Code:
==== Beta 7 ====
*Fixed #15: Rotating when the music player is open resets the app
*Fixed inconsitent background colour on HTC One series devices
*Simplified options for playing audio files
*Added #18: Setting to pick default action when clicking on music
*Added option to exit the music player without clearning the playlist
*Hide the time from now playing notification (part of #16)

I'm willing to test serviio beta and the serviigo app!
I'm running a debian server and using samsung galaxy sII phone.
How do I get the serviio beta software for testing?

Beta tester applications viewtopic.php?f=1&t=247

Looks like I missed the new setting from the ICS resource file, so clicking on audio will default to play for now. Also on my new phone the notification dissapears everynow and then, i'm looking into that.

Unfortunately it seems that GooglePlay rolls out new releases with a little delay for me.
Anyway I got it now, and can test it.

#15 and #18 are OK, no resets when rotating and default action works perfect.
I also like the Musicplayer exit function very much. 8-) And that the playlist is saved, is extra good!

Notifications looking good for me.

I found a little layout problem in landscape mode on my low-resolution phone, the times have not enough place.
(Wordwrap occuring also in portrait mode if the time is longer, like 1:20:15.)

Is it just me facing the following issue?
While viewing zoomed in images, the moving of the zoomed picture horizontally is only available in small steps.
Verticallilly or diagonally it's working fine. If swipeing left or right, the image moves just a few pixels.
If zoomed out, left-right swipe just skips to the prev-next picture, what is OK.
Is this a problem or limitation of my phone or some bug?

Is it possible to put somewhere a "Home" button or option in menu?
If I want to navigate to images from audiofiles I have to push back button 4-5 times (subfolder>subfolder>folders>audio).
Maybe this could be a useful function, if there is available space for it.

Seeking forward and backward in Musicplayer works good with no problems.

I found out what is causing that the playlist will not jump to the next item.
In that case, the playing stops at the end of a track, but it's not starting the next one in playlist.
This occurs only when playing .flac files. Maybe it's because the large size of the audio file?
Not tested with longer (1h+ long) .mp3 files.

No crashing up to now, but I keep running the app to have more feedback.

I added a fix for small phones, but yours must be classed as normal. Will fix in next version.

Not just you, i've noticed it as well. I should be able to fix it, but will require re-implmenting part of it so that will be for later on. For now, swipe down a tiny amount, then swipe around and it will work fine.

Proably via the menu, rather than always there, i'll have a play around.

Should be transcoded to mp3, can you check your temp file/log to makesure it got transcoded.

Re: ServiiGo - Android 3G/Wifi Playback App - Beta

Anythoughts from people using the music player about the best way to lay things out? Tablets should be fine as there is plenty of space, phones in landsape are also easier, but phones in portait mode are a bit harder, especailly small ones. Here is a slightly newer version.

For the following phones with menu keys, I could hide the back button on the action bar to make it dissapear on the now playing view. Otherwise I could add repeate and shuffle commands to the bottom action bar?

For phones without a menu key, then I will definately have to have the actionbar at the bottom for the virtual menu key.

Re: ServiiGo - Android 3G/Wifi Playback App - Beta

Will,

Tested out ServiiGo again on my touchpad with Beta4 running and the app is crashing when I click into a movie and see the meta data/description. The app sent the error logs so let me know if you got them.

Yes I got thoses. Still trying to work it out, it is an SQL error when trying to add the online metadata into the local database. I may have to silently catch it and just not add the data for now. I'll have a proper look to see if I can find the problem, although it is odd as I haven't seen it on any other device. Just to be sure, could you go into androids settings and clear the apps data then try again.

Edit in fact, before clearning the data (and again after clearning then trying), can you grab be the database, should be in I think /data/data/com.serviigo/databases/metadata.db (or something similar), and send them to me.

Re: ServiiGo - Android 3G/Wifi Playback App - Beta

New update, mostly audio UI related. I'm especailly interested in feedback from people with phones and tablets, to check for any inconsitancies.
  Code:
==== Beta 8 ====
*Added #19: Respond to media buttons
*Fixed missing settings under ICS
*Added an option to make the home button either navigate to the root or up one level
*Fixed the image view to make horizontal and vertical padding equal
*Added #16: Improve notification when playing music
*Lots of visual improvements to Music Player across all device configurations
*Catch and report SQL errors (until #20 is fixed)

This morning it seems to be working fine. Only difference was touchpad was rebooted this morning and the latest ServiiGo was updated. I will keep testing but not sure what's up

Reading the release notes - are you just catching the error now? Not sure how to know if I am still getting it.

I still get the crash report, its just that you won't see the toast and the report has a tag saying that it is a silently caught exception. I use that for things that don't completely break the app but still need fixing. In this case you loose the metadata cache and have to query TMDb every time.

However it isn't fixed so please do send me your database file.

Any feedback on the app? I want to speed things along to get it ready in time for when 1.0 is released, so need lots of input.

Re: ServiiGo - Android 3G/Wifi Playback App - Beta

Attached are the files - I renamed the to .txt so I could upload them.

Overall I think the app works very well as long as you know which players work and which don't etc. The navigation is easy and intuitive - I like the meta data information etc. Looks great really.

Re: ServiiGo - Android 3G/Wifi Playback App - Beta

OK thanks. I plan on adding a note the first time the user watches a video with a) a list of known to work players, and b) a warning over how much bandwith videos can use etc..

OK, this is very odd, the db is fine and has data in it. I'm going to clear my crash reports, can you know clear the apps data again from android (rather than going into the app and clearning online metata images), and then try again. Specifically, can you open one movie, then another movie, then logout, login again, and open the fist movie and the second movie again. That will simulate creating the db, adding two entries that don't exist, and looking up two entires that should.

Edit think I've found the problem/ how to fix it, i'll upload a test version in a bit, would be great if you can test it out.

Re: ServiiGo - Android 3G/Wifi Playback App - Beta

Try this : edit - link removed

If it works nothing will happen, if an error occurs, you will get a toast saying SQLiteException. Basically I had only tested the metadata db with tmdbId which are ints, imdbIds which your movies were using are strings, and I hadn't formatted the query properly so SQLite thought they were column names, not fields

Ok good, just uploading to google play now. It should offer it to you as I increased the version code from the one I just gave you, but if it doesn't just delete and re-download.

  Code:
==== Beta 9 ====
*Fixed #20: FC when looking up movies in the local metadata db by imdbId
