Random audio list only plays first 2 songs

Running Servio 1.0.1 / Windows XP / Sony BluRay BDP-S370

Hi - this problem was reported in 2011 at https://bitbucket.org/xnejp03/serviio/i ... -for-music. I'm experiencing the same problem i.e.

Selecting Random in audio returns a randomised list of tracks to the BluRay player. The first track plays and when complete moves on to the second, but after the second track is complete, playback stops and returns to the complete random list of tracks. Expected behaviour: move to next track. The same problem occurs when I manually skip through the tracks i.e. when I try to skip to the third track, playback stops and returns to the track list.

I've had a look in the log file but can't see anything obvious to do with this problem. I've uploaded it anyway

Any thoughts? The Random audio list is a fantastic feature if it would only work...

I will need detailed log of you browsing to the category and playing or skipping the 3 songs (see my signature for detailed log info)

I navigated to the Random music category twice and each time it only played the first 2 tracks.

If it's any help, the second attempt involved playing the following tracks in the order listed

De Nua - Feat. Ana Moura
Billy 4
All I Have Is Memories

The first 2 played ok and appear in the log file, but the 3rd (All I Have) doesn't appear in the log.

How long is the Billy song? I see it started playing around 22:43:22 and then the server stopped 22:44:10 - did it stop by itself or did you initiate server stop?

After the "Billy" track (the 2nd track) had started, I skipped forward to the next track using the Blu-ray remote control at which point the server stopped playing and returned to the random song list.

If it helps I can attach another log file where each track plays in its entirety (rather than manually skipping to the next track). Let me know if you need this. Thanks, Mike

I just recently downloaded Serviio and am impressed having had problems with Windows Media Player 11.

I can confirm that the random play feature does only play the first two tracks on the list of randomly sorted tracks. It's a shame it doesn't work properly as my Sony SMP-N100 does not have a random play feature, but otherwise Serviio is great!

I get the same bug with ubuntu server 12.04 and Sony BluRay BDP-S370.

This bug was present in version 0.6 and 1.0.1.

I notice will on this forum whos a dev and a beta tester has a bdp s370 in his forum footer, im sure he would check this out

I'm not sure its due to serviio.
I had this behavior with my Sony player, but it happens sporadically with some files only. I have not tested more than that.If it happens again, I would look.

Entirely possible that its a sony bug not a serviio one but i'd have thought this is less likley if it affects different units. any non sony users get this?

Actually, it would be good if you could move this problem to a more general forum. I posted the original fault - in hindsight, perhaps it wasn't such a good idea to put it in the Sony forum. As others have said, it would help if we know if others have experienced the same on other non-Sony devices. Thanks, Mike

I've recently installed Serviio 1.2 Pro (still in evaluation mode) on a Windows 7 32-bit PC. Has this thread continued somewhere else? Has a solution been found?

I too am seeing the same problem of random play stopping after the first two songs and then having to play each song after that individually on my Sony SMP-N100. Prior to installing Serviio, I was playing Windows 7 Media Player playlists without such a problem.

It's a design flaw in Serviio with the Sony players, so no solution to this exists atm.

Thank you Petr for your response. I am still evaluating Serviio, and may still stay with it. I've had other problems with my Sony player as well. The Sony does not play MP3 files or playlists from Windows 8 Media Player. I have yet to try Serviio on Windows 8. That will be next.

No. It's quite a lot of work for minority of users, so other things have priority.

Hi! Petr. Posting from UK. I too have problem "Random stops after 2 songs" Any chance of a solution any time soon? I have Sony BDP 370. Alongside Serviio it plays everything perfectly save for this frustrating limitation. Any help gratefully received. Thanks in advance.
