Re: Dual audio with AVI file and MKV not

As Cerberus said, DLNA is different than USB functionality. I think that the fact it works on a AVI file and not MKV will be down to the DLNA implementation on the player. MKV is not transcoded for the C/D profile and is served as-is - so it's up to the TV to make that available.

The manufacturer is really not the "divine word", for example under the BDP Sony manual : mkv are not suppored over DLNA.
But we know thanks to patter experience that was possible...

So all users experience are welcome.

- Then, AVI files are just an exception.
- I agree with you Illico.
- Cerberus, i think you need to keep your open mind. One important thing in this forum is to share user experiences, not just to post what manufacturer says, because in that case, the only thing we can do is open our owners manual. Now i see why so many people complaint about you answers, you are not constructive and the only thing you want is to make people believe that you are a real expert.

reading this conversation I'm wondering if it is not possible for the Serviio developers to create another exception and provide mkv's with a selection of the audio track. At least I would appreciate the possibility to configure serviio which audio track to provide. somewhere I read that a guy remuxes the mkv's so the first audio track is the one he wants to be played. serviio should give the choice. Where could I provide that wish?

Re: Dual audio with AVI file and MKV not

I can also confirm switching between audio tracks (inside mkv) is possible on TV UExxD5005 via remote "tools" button.
But I cant find a way to do it on my BluRay BD-C6500.

Seems like Samsung is really working on this feature (or maybe its just a feature they get for free with the recent chips).
As far as I can remember it was not possible to even play a multiple audio mkv on my old LExxB650 TV.

To save this forum from links to copyright protected media (very tempting) this set of reliable sample mkv:s can be used:

Sample #5 has multiple audio tracks.

C-series DOES NOT support audio switch only the D series has this feature.

Re: Dual audio with AVI file and MKV not

Cerberus, I have to agree with the criticism from others; you really need to soften your attitude. Your forceful replies and statements are not helping.

As for your last comment:
C-series DOES NOT support audio switch only the D series has this feature.

This is FALSE. I am currently watching a dual-language MKV file on my C-series Samsung UE40C8705, and from the tools menu I have the possibility to switch the language track. This works fine (for about 4 seconds there is no sound at all, and then I get to hear the other language).

For completeness: this is over USB, I am not talking about DLNA. (As your statement also was about the C-series in general.)

Re: Dual audio with AVI file and MKV not

if the file is remuxed or trnscoded Serviio only picks the first track, if it's native it'll depend on the device. It is possible that they only enable it in the USB mode though.

Re: Dual audio with AVI file and MKV not

I just bought Samsung blue-ray player BD-E5300 and ran into this issue of not being able to switch audio tracks. Is there a solution? How can I tell which current models support this feature? I don't see a D series available currently.

Re: Dual audio with AVI file and MKV not

I saw this thread today, and check my TV Samsung LN32D550 with a AVI Dual Audio file and plays both audios and with MKV Dual Audio file and ALSO PLAYS BOTH AUDIOS via Tools button.
So seems a TV firmware issue and not a serviio problem.

My serviio version: 0.6.2 in a QNAP NAS

This is definitely a Samsung problem. No question about it. I am still interested in learning if there is a solution.

Re: Dual audio with AVI file and MKV not

Hi, i know that this is an old thread.. but you can try PS3Media server - it's free and can handle multiple audio/subtitles in mkv (you can enable transcoding - then you see movie like a folder, and inside you can select "no encoding" or to encode with selected audio track)

I'm also missing this in Serviio..

i'm using it with PS3 and Samsung SmartTV :)
