Serviio Not Adding Files From Library

I just Installed Serviio 1.1.1 on my Windows Vista laptop. I have added my video and music folders (which are on a external hard drive which is connected to my deskkop computer) to the library but the files are not showing up. When I click refresh and then click show status the lights are orange. I am running Kaspersky Internet Security but the firewall is turned off as is the Windows Firewall. I can access the folders through my laptop so I know they are accessible. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

There's the problem. You need to make sure that the user running Serviio has access rights to the folders with the media files in them.

Re: Serviio Not Adding Files From Library
I can access the files no problem but for some reason Serviio isn't

And does Serviio run as you?
Try making the folders readable by everyone. Completely open them up. Then see if it still doesn't work.
Your other option is to add the folders to Serviio by IP address rather than computer name.
Would it not make more sense to run Serviio on the desktop machine that the files are on, by the way? I mean, seeing as it has to be on for you to be able to read the files off it anyway?
Re: Serviio Not Adding Files From Library
My laptop computer is what I have Serviio installed on. I can access all the files on my laptop that are on the desktop. But for whatever reason Serviio can't. I just dont get it. I tried Serviio on the desktop and the same thing happens
Re: Serviio Not Adding Files From Library
If Serviio on the desktop can't access files on the desktop, and Serviio is running with your user credentials on the desktop, then there must be something really odd about the folder permissions.
Forget the laptop for a minute, let's concentrate on the desktop. It removes a layer of complexity from the problem.
Install Serviio on the desktop, run it, add in the videos folder using the console. Force a scan.
Let me know what happens. If it doesn't work, paste all the lines from the log file that have [warning] or [error] in them.

Re: Serviio Not Adding Files From Library
Serviio service runs as a Local system user, not 'your' user. Therefore you can either change the username under which the service runs to your username, or open the remote folders to everyone.

Do you allow Windows to power off the network interface card on the desktop to save power? If so, tell it not to.
Re: Serviio Not Adding Files From Library

Re: Serviio Not Adding Files From Library

What version of Windows are you on?
For Windows 7, see steps 1 and 2 of: http://idoc.vsb.cz/en/okruhy/cit/pc/sit ... -zarizeni/
Note "Power Management" tab. There should be a setting in there.
Re: Serviio Not Adding Files From Library
Hello,
I'm having the same issue with my iMAC. I have Serviio running on both my iMac and my PC Laptop. I can access all videos from my Laptop on my Sony Bravio TV. However, I cannot access the videos that are on the 2T HD connected to my iMAC. I can see the Folders from my Sony Bravia TV, but when I open one of the folders on the Sony Bravia, I can't see the videos. Does that make sense?

Re: Serviio Not Adding Files From Library
Never mind. I found the problem. I had to go into the console and change the profile of my Sony Bravia TV from "GENERIC DLNA PROFILE" to "SONY BRAVIA TV'. You wont be able to view all the files without changing the Profile in this manner. Now it works like a charm
