Video cannot be played without restarting the server

I have several video files in mkv (containing a basic xvid+mp3 audio). I can read one when I start serviio but I HAVE to restart the service (via stop server/start server) between each video, otherwise the next one won't play (it says unsupported media file on my tv). If I reboot ir works fine, for the next file, then I have to do it again for the following one, etc.

Any ideas ?

Re: Video cannot be played without restarting the server

Are you still using Windows as the Serviio server?

Someone is going to ask you to turn on detailed logging and post logs any second now ...

Re: Video cannot be played without restarting the server

Switched detailed logging on. It looks like, while I've set my renderer 192.168.0.13 to a samsung C/D/E profile, at some point it changes back to Generic Renderer for its profile, thus it fails for the mkv. I have no idea why. I'm cleaning the log a bit and I upload it.
Also it finds another renderer with same name and different ip (like if my tv had two nics, not.)

I added notes in [Note: ] format in the log, search for "[Note" to find them, if it helps

Re: Video cannot be played without restarting the server

Is it getting confused by your hamachi somehow? Is Serviio bound to IP 192.168.0.10?

Does your Samsung TV have wired and wireless networks? Is that what the 192.168.0.x and 192.168.27.y addresses are?

It's not statically bound, I guess I can retry that way but iirc (not sure!) I had problems at some point with statically bound server which was trying to get an ip in the hamachi subnetwork and not on the correct tv/pc subnetwork.

I have no idea where there this ip range comes from, my tv is wired only. If I check my router (not too deeply this one has little configuration), I don't even see a 192.168.27.x subnetwork!

Re: Video cannot be played without restarting the server

Yeah. Do you have more than one DHCP server on your network?

I don't know if the changing IP address is a cause of the problems, tbh. I just assume it is.

Re: Video cannot be played without restarting the server

I have only one. To be sure, I manually set the ip of my tv to 192.168.0.13, no dhcp. Also deactivated my hamachi virtual network card. STILL, at some point it detects a 192.168.27.14 from out of nowhere... I even added a 192.168.0.13 to serviio's renderer (through add button), at the end of playback its address changes to 192.168.27.14 (and it's not a new one, 0.13 disappears and is replaced by this one)!!

Another extract of the log, I did a research on "profile"
  Code:

wtf!

Edit: Okay research shows me that my provider's router-switch has its own vlan, thus it's my gateway on 192.168.0.254 but has also it's own vlan factory set on 192.168.27.x (.14) connected only with the adsltv box (192.168.27.1)... maybe causing interferences. But I cannot change this, I'll try switching of the adsltv box, I cannot really change the router!

Edit2: Was a good idea to look for 27.14 on google, found out viewtopic.php?f=5&t=4117 had similar problem -> solution after 4 pages is to buy another router and use the one from my provider only as modem. Huh. I think I'll try other dlna servers first...

Re: Video cannot be played without restarting the server

I'm not sure why it's a problem tbh. The device had an ID, and that's linked to a named renderer profile. The router does something weird, IP changes and the device ID stays the same, but then why does the renderer profile change for the device? Maybe if you add the .14 address as a named profile too?

Does the router allow for static IP assignment by MAC address in the DHCP setup?

And ... have you tried using the ADSLTV set top box as the DLNA client rather than the TV?

I'm not sure why this is a problem either, I tried another dlna server (plex) whih works fine but is slow as hell.

Yep, assigned one for my pc and tv (but also tried with static), no change. The .27.x is a subvlan with only the router and tv and I don't have access to it, I'm not sure why serviio gets confused there.

Did not. I could but... the adsl tv user interface really sucks so i'd rather use my tv instead :/

Re: Video cannot be played without restarting the server

Any other people have ideas? Or is it normal because Serviio isn't configurable enough and outside of mainstream uses it should not be expected to always work?

Re: Video cannot be played without restarting the server

Personally, I'd say you're lucky if you can find a DLNA server that works with that router - so find one and stick with it. Look around. Try some.

Have a look around for some alternative firmware for your *box, either official or something like OpenBox http://www.neufbox4.org/blog/ - maybe there are people with the same hardware as you who have worked out a solution to these problems.

Your only other option is going to be to do what that other guy did. Take the crazy router's bad behaviour out of the mix and just use it as a modem.

TP-Link make cheap routers that are fine for the purpose.

I don't know if any of the devs want to look at this, seems like there could be a lot of work involved for very few localised *box users to fix something that isn't broken within Serviio per se but just to accommodate bad behaviour in substandard hardware given out by a handful of ISPs.
