MediaBrowser on iPad

Ive got my wife's iPad on me away from home. Never fully tested MediaBrowser on it till now.
I thought FlowPlayer supports the iPad reading this - http://flash.flowplayer.org/plugins/jav ... /ipad.html

Really need to watch the new season of The Walking Dead premier tonight!

But I can't get any videos to load or even give me option to load on an iOS video player such CineXPlayer or VLC for iPad which play xvid natively.
On a separate note, damn you Apple for providing a locked down operating system! :x

Re: MediaBrowser on iPad

It won't work. First I don't think the Apple FlowPlayer support is there by default, I didn't enable it. Secondly, Apple doesn't play flash video and we cannot transcode to MP4, from well known reasons. The only format the iOS devices play transcoded would be Apple HTTP protocol, but that is not implemented in Serviio yet and it'd need a lot of work. Would only be playable in Safari as well.

Well, I cannot guarantee that for all your files ;-)

Re: MediaBrowser on iPad

Oh i hate Apple iOS even more!

Is it worth a ticket request to make MediaBrowser to viewable iOS devices?
Possibly ServiiGo style "Open with.." a selection of video players installed on the device

Re: MediaBrowser on iPad

It's probably a bit late, now that FlowPlayer is being used. But jplayer supports HTML5 for audio and video. An HTML5 player would support more devices possibly.

Re: MediaBrowser on iPad

The problem is not the player, but that HTML5 video doesn't play mpegts and we cannot transcode to mp4.

For iOS it'd be ideal if someone created an app like ServiiGo, then we would not be restricted with Safari browser and would push me to implement the Apple Http streaming transcoding profiles.

Re: MediaBrowser on iPad

Understood. Thanks. It's a pity about the HTML5 video limitations. I presume WebM is a no-go also?

Re: MediaBrowser on iPad

WebM might work, but that includes transcoding everything to VP8 - super high CPU usage.
