new on serviio

Hi,
trying to make things work with serviio and moodle elearning

1. after using serviio at home with sammsung TV and DLNA service
i would like to make streaming videos for moodle at work

looks like i misunderstand somethings:

i have installed serviio on linux ppc64 + all the ffmpeg (and many more codec support) + webui
things appear like working fine (no errors on the log file) web and console are working also
i have also copied short mov files to the server and define them under library --> local path and share them as videos (like i do for my TV at home)

BUT

can't understand how i can view this mov file from a url page, all i want to do is to access the videos from html/php file and define the right url for moodle
at home i can find the server because of a broadcast of DLNA protocol so things are more easy
after reading at servo site i couldn't find info about it (i think i missed something big time)

Thanks, Rami

Re: new on serviio

Being able to browse and playback videos is coming in Serviio 1.0 (ETA < 1 month) via a web app. There is also a public API for those who want to extend/replace the web app.

Re: new on serviio

Hi.

I am a newbie and was able to install and run serviio from CentOS 6.3 desktop. I understand that a license is needed to have the browser capability to function. I was able to download web ui 1.2(latest) and followed the steps from the wiki but I cannot see the config screen from a remote computer. I also installed php-xml and httpd in the serviio desktop and I was not able to see the ui to work. Checked the logs, and did not find any error. I will be attaching the logs tomorrow. What I want to accomplish is to have a working linux video server that can download movies and broadcast those movies to my homenetworks composing of 3 DLNA LG TVs. I am good on the Linux part except to the http and php-xml stuffs. Please advise. :)

Thanks

Re: new on serviio

In future make a new thread as otherwise it might get missed. What have you got working at this point? Can you post any webui problems in the webui specific thread.

Yes a licence is needed for the Web MediaBrowser (not the web ui), you will have a 15 day trial for it.
