Stumped by online streaming

I have a Samsung tv and downloaded Serviio because I couldn't get Allshare to work! Only took me a few minutes to get going and to be able to see my pictures on the tv.
However I cannot figure out how to get the streaming to work. I added a source url which works in VLC in the console under online sources but cannot figure out what to do after that. How do I get it to play on the tv? Do I need to download a pluggin?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. :)

Re: Stumped by online streaming

Thanks for the quick answer.
I added the following: mms://38.96.148.86/belmizikboston which streams music from http://www.belmizikfm.com. I didn't add anything for thumbnail url. When I ran the "check stream url" I got a green check mark.

Re: Stumped by online streaming

Right, so after you add the URL (as a Live Stream), just go the Video (or Audio, depending on the stream type) on your TV, select Online and you should see the item there.

Re: Stumped by online streaming

When I select "source" on the tv I see Serviio listed under network; when I select that I see 3 categories: videos, photos, music; when I select the latter I see a list of folders and one of them is labeled "online" but when I select it there is nothing there. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks.

Hi Tech Rookie. I am hoping that you can pass on the love and help me to get the streaming on my TV.

Is there a guide that shows you how to do this?

Is there are list of streaming sources?

I see a lot of info, but it appears to be over my head. Need the simplify version.

thanks

Re: Stumped by online streaming

After you have installed Serviio you should see it listed as 1 of the input sources on your TV if you select "source" on the remote.
If you select it then you should see the "contents type" listed: videos, photos, music. When you select one of these you should see
the folders that you have set to "share" on your pc.
Good luck!

Re: Stumped by online streaming

I am having a bit of difficulty in locating stream content. I believe that I understand how to set this up properly; however, I am having difficulty in finding streaming content that will work with Serviio. So far all I have found that I comprehend are RSS/Podcast feeds. I wish to stream music (i.e. Pandora, Chicago local stations, etc.) When I see a station I like I don't understand where to get its IP address instead of its dynamic IP. What would be the best method to find an IP address of a specific radio station rather than its dynamic address? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
