Xbox 360 vs Sony PS for DLNA

Hi guys, there is a question about the choice of game console-based DLNA technology.
Choose between MS Xbox 360 and Sony PS3. Profiles in serviio are available for both consoles.
Which console works better in terms of support and DLNA (playing) video content?
Want the device 2 in 1 = DLNA player and game console
However, MS Xbox 360 Kinect has a great expansion.
Sony PS3 In this class there is no device.

I think the PS3. They both support similar formats, but the XBox doesn't play mpegts, so all the MKVs have to be transcoded, rather than just remuxed, causing high CPU usage and loss of quality.

For gaming, I prefer the xbox however ;-)

Re: Xbox 360 vs Sony PS for DLNA

@WRSkyes, i know your a big fan of PS3 but two words - Halo Four!

@lavvash, i have both, the PS3 does play .mkv files without a hitch.
With the Xbox 360, i do the following little trick with .mkv file as 360 has no problem playing the video codec, its the audio.
It really takes only 30 seconds to 2 minutes depending on file. This way video quality remains the same and not much CPU usage.
1. Get XMedia Re-encode
2. Open the .mkv file
3. "Format" tab, choose Microsoft, Xbox360 H.264, File Extenxtion: MP4
4. On the "Video" tab, at the bottom tick the box "Video copy" - This just copies the video to the mp4 container without encoding it
5. Press "Encode" at the top. It should take between 30seconds to 2 minutes to encode the audio only to .mp4 the Xbox 360 plays without a hitch with Serviio ;)

@zip, i know that the main job of Serviio is to play file straight away
But is it possible, for a screen to load up on Xbox 360 saying "File encoding" then plays the file when Serviio converts the audio.
This way i dont have to use XMedia Re-encode trick

3 Words for you Xm Halo 4 Sucks :)

Also Xm if subtitles DO come with another release maybe the feature you suggest could burn itself into the first few seconds of each file :D

Re: Xbox 360 vs Sony PS for DLNA

thanks
But can we count on the support playback of 3D content if you use Sony PS or MS XBox ?
or a task too hard for them? :)
