MP4 from Sony Xperia

For the past year I have never been able to get my MP4 files created on my Sony Xperia X10 phone to play using Serviio.

When I try and play them through the TV they play for 2 seconds, then there is a 1 second pause, then another 2 seconds, then a 1 second pause, etc.

The format of the files are as follows:

Video
Frame width: 1280
Frame height: 720
Data rate: 5997kbps
Total bitrate: 6061kbps
Frame rate 23 frames/second
Audio
Bit rate 64kpbs
Channels 1 (mono)
Audio sample rate 16kHz

There is no problem playing the files back on the mobile phone, or on my desk pc.

I am successfully able to playing higher resolution files using Serviio with out any problem.

Any suggestions what could be causing the problem?

Re: MP4 from Sony Xperia

Forgot to say, it is using the "Sony BD Player / SMP" profile.

The player is a Sony BDP-S373 Blu-Ray Player.

Re: MP4 from Sony Xperia

Could you provide detailed format information, see my signature link (ffmpeg -i, and MediaInfo tools result) ?

Re: MP4 from Sony Xperia

Out of interest, do they play fine on the Sony from a USB stick/HDD?
Using Serviio on Debian "Wheezy" with Xbox 360, Sony BDP-S370 & Panasonic E6.

Re: MP4 from Sony Xperia

Just did some experiments and put some different video files on a USB stick and plugged it into the Sony Bluray player.

A High resolution M2TS, from a Sony DCS Camera, plays fine on Serviio and on the USB stick.

A low resolution AVI file, from Fuji Camera, plays fine on Serviio, but would not play from USB stick.

A low resolution MP4, from Samsung Galaxy phone, plays fine on Serviio, but only plays audio and no video from USB stick.

A mid resolution MP4, from Sony Xperia phone, does not play on Serviio, but plays fine from USB stick.

Very confusing...

Re: MP4 from Sony Xperia

Do you try to change profile on Serviio console... like Sony Bravia profiles for example ?

Re: MP4 from Sony Xperia

Just experimented with the profiles.

I changed to "Sony Bravia (2009) TV" and with this profile the troublesome MP4 file played fine.

But of course some of the other files which played fine with the "Sony BD Player/SMP" profile wouldn't play.

Looks like I will be making my own profile.
