Panasonic ST50 & Onkyo TX-NR579 - AAC5.1
I have a question regarding transcoding for 2 devices.
In my setup at home, my computer contains the media files and runs serviio.
My TV is a 2012 Panasonic ST50 series, which displays the video, but passes the Audio feed through HDMI to my Onkyo TX-NR579 AV Receiver for processing.
So far the TV and AVR have been able to decode everything flawlessly, no jittering, even 1080p files with DTS-Master Audio work fine through serviio. EXCEPT... AAC 5.1 encoding. It always comes out as 2 channel PCM.
I've discovered through scouring through home theatre forums that there doesn't seem to be a single home theatre component on the market that supports AAC5.1 (and it's inferior quality), not sure if this is true, but I can't seem to find any.
Anyway... it would seem like transcoding is the answer...
What I'd like to do, if possible, is have a Transcoding profile that only effects AAC5.1 audio encoding, and converts it to either DTS or AC3.
Can that be done??
