Unable to connect to Serviio - Java / router problem?

I had Serviio installed on my Vista PC connected to my Sony KDL37EX503 via a Powerline adaptor and all was well (although I had noticed that I get several instances of Serviio displayed although only one had the icon and could access the Serviio server, but that's another less serious problem).
I noticed in the last few days that the Servii icon has disappeared and I can no longer access the server. I have KooRaRoo media server also installed and that still works, as do the other internet resources.
Two things I can think of that have changed since I last saw Serviio on the TV:
- I updated Java from version 6 release thirty something, to the latest version 7 release 10.
- I updated the firmware in my Netgear router
I also updated Serviio to the latest version but this made no difference.
Any help gratefully received!

Re: Unable to connect to Serviio - Java / router problem?

Sorted out why I couldn't connect to Serviio from my TV. The 'dead' connections had filled all of the available slots, so I had to delete those.

Can anyone suggest how the dead connections get there?

Now got to work out how to get the YouTube feed to work now the ITV player plugin doesn't work  May have to start a new thread.

Your Serviio server gets a new IP address every time. Set the server to have a static IP address on your router and you will always have only one active Serviio connection.

Thanks for the reply Petr. Is there an idiot's guide on how to do this?

I thought I was reasonably technically savvy, but when I read all this networking stuff it goes over my head!

Re: Unable to connect to Serviio - Java / router problem?

It should be included in your router's manual. Basically setting a static IP address in your DHCP router module. Most likely you give it the device's MAC address and select IP address you want to deserve for it.
