Re: Samsung AllShare TV disconnect problem

Well, that makes sense. 3 minutes is about the longest period it was possible to stream a movie on 1.0.1.

I'll try to capture the AllShare packets with tcpdump (I stopped being lazy and switched to OpenWRT on my home router some time ago).

Re: Samsung AllShare TV disconnect problem

Ok, so I logged some AllShare traffic with tcpdump. If I understand SSDP protocol correctly, advertisement duration is controlled by "CACHE-CONTROL: max-age" response header.

There are several instances of this header, everytime the value equals 1810:

  Code:
NOTIFY * HTTP/1.1
HOST: 239.255.255.250:1900
CACHE-CONTROL: max-age=1810
LOCATION: http://192.168.xyz.134:17676/smp_6_
NT: upnp:rootdevice
NTS: ssdp:alive
SERVER: SHP, UPnP/1.0, Samsung UPnP SDK/1.0
USN: uuid:0ee6b280-00a2-1000-8823-001c23497884::upnp:rootdevice

So 1810 seems close enough to Serviio's 1800. I guess the real problem may be in TV not processing readvertisement properly. Any max-age value should work just fine if the TV gets and accepts readvertisement packets, right?

I wonder if increasing max-age value in Serviio's settings could be used as a workaround? Wouldn't some bigger value (like few hours) reduce the impact, at least in theory? Is there a setting for this in Serviio, or is it hardcoded?

Re: Samsung AllShare TV disconnect problem

I have been using Serviio (running on Windows XP Pro) streaming to a Sony blu-ray player for quite some time, and it worked perfectly.
Recently, I bought a Samsung PN60E550 Plasma TV, which is given me disconnect problems.
Whether I stream from online sources or from shared folders (mostly .flv files), regardless of the length of the video, the TV will always lose the network connection a couple of minutes before the end of the video. In addition to the Samsung C/D/E renderer profile I also tried all the others. Some of them work with the TV, but will also terminate the video before the end, however at different times.
Just now I installed Serviio 1.1, but the problem remains.
After the TV loses connection I can switch to the blu-ray player. It still sees the Serviio server and will play everything just fine.
Samsung customer support are of no help, they will only deal with their Allshare server, which I found to be a useless piece of software.
Does somebody have an idea what I could try?

Try setting the serviio.advertisementDuration property. http://www.serviio.org/index.php?option ... icle&id=43

Re: Samsung AllShare TV disconnect problem

Everybody who has this problem try to install another firewall on your PC. I had this problem as well with my Samsung Blueray player. But since I uninstalled McAfee the problem doesn't exist anymore.

I dont have a firewall, and the windows one is disabled.

This is a bug in Serviio, there's no question about it.

Re: Samsung AllShare TV disconnect problem

FYI I have 3 Samsung devices, 1 TV 55ES800, and 2 BRays (D6100 and 8900) and all work perfectly OK with Serviio (all versions) right out of the box for the last 9 months or so....it is not an issue with Serviio.....

Its 100% for sure a issue with Serviio.

If its not, no Samsung devices would be having problems.

(AllShare and Mezzmo work, so its not a computer/network problem)

Its ok to have problems, the point is to fix them, actively.

Best to compare, I have the UE40ES5505 Samsung TV.
What do you have, and what firmware?

Samsung Allshare (default software that came with the devices) and Mezzmo, (and also Plex) worked for me OK as well before I decided to go with Serviio.....

Try setting the serviio.advertisementDuration property. http://www.serviio.org/index.php?option ... icle&id=43

Thanks. I just tried and it seems to do the trick.

Set serviio.advertisementDuration to 18000 seconds and so far I've watched aproximatelly 1,5h of a movie (I wasn't able to get to 30 minutes before).

I'd say it's a nice workaround for a time being.

Edit: it seems that after some period of time Serviio isn't browsable anymore (I can finish watching the movie, but I'm not able to start another one), so unfortunately this isn't full workaround.

Re: Samsung AllShare TV disconnect problem

I have a disconnect problem with samsung bd-c5500 (win7x64)...

My problem is related to win7 resume state from sleep mode... If serviio service is running I'll have a disconnect after some minutes. So I disable serviio service and start it manually only when I use serviio to watch a video from my pc (In this case I disable sleep mode in win7 by launch "Insomnia app"..)

I think you are right there is some sort of issue with the Samsung profiles in Serviio and new Samsung TVs. The thing is Samsung apparently made some big changes a while back with their software. A friend at work has a 2 year old Samsung 7 series 3D TV. He was having problems trying to get his Galaxy Tab to work with his TV so he phoned Samsung support. The guy asked him for the full model number of his TV and for the serial number. When he told him the guy appologised and said your TV was made just before our change over so it wont work. He can't even download the latest apps such as BBC Sport from the Samsung app store on his TV. He bought his TV as a Smart TV but Samsung no longer class it as a smart TV, they now call it a web enabled TV.

I am having this problem with online content, it will never play to the end. when streaming video on my pc it works fine. If I play online video such as an RSS feed and I press info on the TVs remote the length of the video is way out, a 30 minute video is listed as 289 hours, 21 minutes and 6 seconds. I have a 2012 UE40S6300 and I use the Samsung C/D/E Series profile in Serviio. if I change this to the Samsung A Series profile the length is only out by 1 hour, so it is definately the serviio profiles that are causing the newer Samsungs to read the duration wrong. I would say if the TV read the duration correctly this problem would go away. There are too many people on here with Samsung devices who quote the latest model numbers with the same issue. Probably those who say they have Samsung devices that does not suffer with this problem have older models. Its a shame really I wanted to pay to keep the pro version but as i said in my seperate post I made asking for help with this problem, whats the point of paying for a feature I can't use.

Just FYI, mine were all bought in : Feb 2012, July 2012, and Nov. 2012.

BD-D8900, BD-D6900, and UN55ES8000.

Also, all online feeds work perfectly.....just watched 8 hours of U.S. PGA golf via online feed (5 yesterday and an unbeliveable 3 slow (for 11 holes) today) with no interuptions......check your setups (PC, network), etc.....hell, even my father in law watches stuff on his Samsung Galaxy S3 when he is at my house on my network...
