Serviio + Macbook pro + Panasonic Vierra = cannot read file?

Since I got my mac I have been wanting to watch my computer videos via my Panasonic G25's DLNA for a bit now. I learned unfortunately that it isn't quite as a simple as with a PC, and I discovered Serviio as the best solution.

It worked pretty great without me really knowing what I was doing too, everything set up pretty easily, and I was able to see my computer on my Vierra DLNA menu and see the one video file I have so far with ease (an .avi accessed quickly via video then folders). But when I hit play on the TV it gives me the error "cannot read file." I can even see a thumbnail preview of the movie, so it's odd for me to come so close and be denied.

I tried googling this issue (since it's what led me to Serviio) but I am having a lot of trouble understanding a lot of what I've read.

Could someone make this real simple and give me step by step instructions on how to fix this? Since I've seen a bit on profiles and the like but I really don't understand how to make the proper edits to get this to work properly. But again, I have come so close, outside of the video actually playing I was impressed that it showed up thumbnail and all without any problems from Serviio unpacked and running.

So yeah, again, some very straightforward help on that last step (getting the file to actually play) would be sweet :) .

Yes I did. I am unsure as to what part I failed to follow?

I did try and attempt to explain in my initial post that a lot of the more complex jargon I read when I did search other topics (none of which seemed to too directly tackle this specific problem) I was not very savy on, including a lot of the code/logs/profile stuff posted. But ok, I think I could make those changes to get that log info to generate (I assume not just from starting serviio but also attempting to get that file to play via my TV....although again, I don't know how any of this jargon works very well so I am still not entirely sure how to get a helpful log to generate beyond the issue as I have already described it).

I am not near said computer right now, but when I am (should be a few hours) I will try and get this log and post it.

Re: Serviio + Macbook pro + Panasonic Vierra = cannot read f

Ok, first issue, I read the instructions on how to generate a log, but I am not super familiar with apple computers (just got the one I'm using) and so I can't really figure out how to do it. The XML file it tells me to locate does not seem to exist. I was at least able to figure out how to make the invisible files show up, but even then, the only other file in my serviio folder outside of two application files of serviio and serviio console, is an insivible file called .DS_store .

So yeah, I'm kind of stumped on how to provide what is needed.

*and yeah this is kind of frustrating because I was hoping for a uncomplicated and simple way to fix my issue and now I'm google searching and looking around about how to get around this issue to get to my actual issue. Kind of frustrating :( .

Right-click on the Serviio icon in the folder and select Browse Serviio.app contents (or along those lines). The you can find the files you need.

Re: Serviio + Macbook pro + Panasonic Vierra = cannot read f

Hi Guys,

This is my first post so it maybe obvious to others . ;)

I'm having the exact same problem ie: getting "cannot read file" when trying to play HULU feeds (via a VPN) on my Panasonic GT30. Thumbnails appears after a minute or so and then when I try to play nine times out ten "cannot read file" appears! Local content (AVI, MP4 etc) on the Serviio server (OS X) over Ethernet plays fine.

Have searched the forums to no avail and am new to Serviio and on a steep learning curve so any suggestions, advice or solutions would be greatly appreciated. :)

Cheers,

BB

Re: Serviio + Macbook pro + Panasonic Vierra = cannot read f

Its both crackle and hulu! Th only online content I can get via Serviio is Hubble and Fox! :0

Is it the URL, the plugin or something else?

Please give me some suggestions to resolve this issue or point me in the right direction to a solution. :(

Thanks,

BB
