Re: Vote for Serviio on Lifehacker

Poll closed, thought it's gonna last for a week!
Serviio came third! Excellent results

Plex coming from the popular XBMC source won, which I think is odd as they just introduced transcoding in DNLA two months ago, most of its users use the Media Centre than DNLA streaming.
And PS3MS being second, clearly the users haven't tried Serviio, like me I switched over.

This is very good exposure, even the Lifehacker editors didn't know about Serviio until when asking for nominations from its users.

Re: Vote for Serviio on Lifehacker

I tried Plex and could never get it to work right. Maybe a functional version could beat Serviio, but not in my book. Install Serviio and it just works.

Of all the different products I tried, nothing was a simple to get up and running as Serviio. While I liked the ability to view/modify the library that some products have, that always took a back seat to basic functionality. If I have a problem with getting a computer program to work, there's something wrong with the program. No brag, just a fact of life.

Re: Vote for Serviio on Lifehacker

I voted a couple of times :)

I used ps3ms for awhile before I switched over to Serviio.. ps3ms seemed to be a cpu hog, transcoding everything that it could and stuttering alot on 1080's. it also didn't support my new TV at all even though there was supposedly a profile for the model i have.

With Serviio.. I had to do a bit of tweaking but my new TV works great and I also dig the DVD covers and thumbnail support for xbox. also for some reason cpu usage is way lower than ps3ms when streaming to most devices.
