Many ffmpeg processes

Hi Guys,

Im using serviio with a dual core intel atom processor mini itx PC with LG 32ls570s LED TV. (Win7)
I have a problem with the ffmpeg services. The problem is that there are many ffmpeg processes appearing and disappearing. Im checking this under the CPU tab in the resource monitor (that is built in win7)
I can see that suddenly 10-12 ffmpeg processes start to appear one by one (status=running) and then they are starting to close (status=terminated). Once 1 ffmpeg closes, an other one appears.
This is happening for sime time, and then the ffmpeg processes are no longer appearing.
Later on this is repeating.
Its strange because during this I do nothing wit the PC, absolutely nothing, the TV is not even turned on, no video playback, nothing. Transcoding is turned off in serviio console.

The ffmpeg processes are generating around 30% processor load on this tiny atom CPU.

Any idea how I could prevent this?

thanks

Re: Many ffmpeg processes

Do you have any online sources? ffmpeg will be periodically called when updating them ad it is used to extract information about them.

Re: Many ffmpeg processes

Hmm, I thought ffmpeg is only related to transcoding
Where can I check the online sources? I hope it is not under library tab, because that page (and only that page) in serviio console is not refreshing for me through remote desktop. I have to connect mouse, keyboard monitor locally :S
Though I have never touched that part of serviio, I have only added the directiories in "shared folders". So even if I have online sources, its some kind of default source, later on Im gonna check it.

Re: Many ffmpeg processes

No, ffmpeg is used to determine information about media files and if needed, transcode them. If you haven't added any then there won't be any. Does it corrispond to adding new files to any of your shared folders?

If you turn on detailed logging (see my sig) and post a log next time it happens that might help.

If you have problems with the console over RDP, you can install just the console on your main pc and point it to it (see the FAQ section of the website), alternatively there if you have an android device or WP7/8 device there are apps available to act as the console for when you do need to make changes.

Re: Many ffmpeg processes

This is expected behaviour when adding new files to the library.
