So I was at the Sony HQ yesterday and I can tell you - we're in for a treat. Apart from the 4k TVs (which are out of the budget for most of us, but totally awesome), the new W9 is a monster. It blew my mind in terms of picture quality. They compared the details and colours with HX853 (2012 flagship Sony model) and Samsung E8000 and the difference is staggering.
As far as DLNA goes, not much news on that front, apart from:
1) still no native subtitles support
2) there will be native MKV playback
3) the TV menu is much nicer and faster (haven't really seen the DLNA menu though).
They also put a lot of emphasis on NFC, so playing media from your phone to the TV, or screen mirroring, is just one touch (mobile + remote) away.
Sony definitely on the up.
