[SOLVED] BDP-S590 not showing up in Serviio Console Status

I have BDP-S590 at 192.168.1.3 and wireless MAC 00:a0:96:e4:df:0b with firmware M12.R.0430 which can stream from netflix fine (so network connectivity)
I have PC at 192.168.1.4 which can ping BDP-S590 via wireless

In wireshark, I see somewhat malformed ethernet broadcast from BDP-S590 to ethernet 01:00:5e:7f:ff:fa which I believe is a broadcast address
The type is IP (0x0800) but the IP version is 0? length 0?
However, the actual package content (based on ethernet frame length?) looks like SSDP

X-AV-Physical-Unit-Info: pa="Blu-ray Disc Player";
X-AV-Server-Info: av=5.0; cn="Sony Corporation"; mn="Blu-ray Disc Player"; mv="2.0";

This never seems to reach serviio (see log below - don't see any response to it's multicast which I also seen in wireshark).
Tried turning off windows firewall (in addition to making sure TCP / UDP are open for serviio first).

I searched this forum and found people with working S590 but this really looks like S590 firmware is broken.
I also have not been able to get xbmc working.

Has anyone seen this or found a workaround?

Re: BDP-S590 not showing up in Serviio Console Status Tab

Does your wifi router allow broadcast and multicast traffic? I was testing Serviio from a wifi-connected PC and had similar problems until I realised that due to a bug on the O2 Wireless Box V the "Allow multicast from Broadband Network" setting is in fact disabled when enabled in the GUI.

Serviio 2.1 package for Synology NAS - with limited hardware transcoding support!

The fact that I am seeing these \packets (albeit malformed) from the blue ray box on the PC running wireshark implies to me that the wireless router is allowing them. I will try and double check the settings though for multicast/broadcast. It's a netgear WGT624 in case it is relevant. What traffic should I be seeing?

Re: BDP-S590 not showing up in Serviio Console Status Tab

Update:

I changed Advanced , Lan IP setup, RIP direction (None->Both), RIP Version (Disabled->RIP_2M) on the web GUI of the WGT624v3
I was also experimenting with a C# proggie to manually distribute the info that looked garbled in wireshark but further testing appears to indicate this was extraneous. Now, the S590 shows up in Serviio, Serviio shows on the S590, and I can at least play one WMV from the PC on the S590 via Serviio. :D

Thanks
