Sony BDP-S370 1.2 Problem

I have had serviio running perfectly on windows, my Sony s370, ACRyan HD2, Dlink 520 and PS3 all ran perfectly on version 1.01 and 1.1, when I upgraded to 1.2 and 1.2.1 the Sony BD stopped playing files that need to be transcoded.

I get the following error in the log file:-

  Code:
WARN  [ProcessExecutor] Process cmd has a return code of 1! This is a possible error. Detailed output follows.

I have since reverted to version 1.1 and everything works fine again... I would however like to upgrade to the new version(s) and get some of the new features.

any help would be very much appreciated..

thanks in advance.

P.S. the file I'm trying to play works fine with Version 1.1 only DTS is transcoded to AC3.

Re: Sony BDP-S370 1.2 Problem

what is the file name (path)? it looks like it's got external subtitles which break the ffmpeg command.

Re: Sony BDP-S370 1.2 Problem

the path for the file is D:\Movies & TV\Movies\Movies.x264\

and it has subtitle files ending with extension .idx and .sub

still other files with .srt and with embedded subtitles do the same.

You are Absolutely right, I turned off subtitles and it played the movies. but is there a way to solve this problem, it's nice to have subs.

It's because of the '&' in the folder name. Looks like a bug. I'll fix it for the next version, for now you will have to rename your folder.

A couple of observations on the BDP-Sx70 Series:

Serviio "Status" identifies the Device Name of my BDP-S570 to be BDP-Sx90 (2012). If I use the BDP-Sx90 Profile, my S570 can "see" and play avi files but not flv files. If I use the BDP-Sx70 Profile, it sees and plays flv but avi. Oddly, if I use the BDP-Sx80 Profile, I can see and play avi and flv.

The ability to see wtv files with 1.2 is a nice addition, however, I can't play wtv over Serviio because FFMPEG transcoding of HD wtv files is using 75% to 85% of my CPU capacity (using 2 cores - Pentium Dual-Core E5800 @ 3.20GHz - 4 Gig Memory) causing stuttering, halting, and eventual freezing on playback. I've increased the socket buffer size with no improvement in performance. Using Windows Media Player as a server, I have no problem playing wtv files. WMP transcoding uses 50% or less CPU capacity when running wtv files. Is there an FFMPEG build that is less CPU intensive?

Re: Sony BDP-S370 1.2 Problem

When you flip profiles, you should really delete the renderer completely from the console, save, let it redetect, then assign the profile you want and save again. Then you need to restart the BDP. If you don't do all of those steps you can get some unpredictable behaviour.

Re: Sony BDP-S370 1.2 Problem

I have a sony bdp-bx37 which I think is the same as the sx37 or s370. I also can't get 1.2.1 to show both .mkv and .avi files. It works in 1.1 with the sony BD player / smp. I tried all the sony bd profiles in 1.2 and 1.2.1 but it does not work. My path does not have any spaces in it or special characters.

Thanks

Re: Sony BDP-S370 1.2 Problem

I had the same issue when upgrading to 1.2, setting the profile to x70 (2010) US, save and restart Serviio fixed for me....I run Serviio on Centos6.4 (64bit), BDP is Sony s37 costco (BDP-370) and a BDP-470.

I updated to Serviio 1.2.1 on April 5, 2013. This update has changed the Sony profiles. My s37 audio became out of sync and would pause frequently for half a second. I replaced the profiles.xml file with the one from 1.2 and it is working normal again. The 1.2.1 release notes state a change for Sony BDPs, unfortunately it broke Serviio for me.

Hope this helps other Sony users.

Re: Sony BDP-S370 1.2 Problem

I have a BDP S390 and I also updated Serviio from 1.1 to 1.2.1. Unfortunately the profiles.xml was changed a lot and my old one, with modifications doesn't work anymore.
I made the changes according to a tutorial, because the mkv files were seen by the player as avi and I don't want to use transcoding.
Now, following the same instructions, mkv files are seen as mpeg. They are played, but the subtitle doesn't work anymore. Can somebody help me with the changes I should do for my player in profiles.xml so that I can play mkv files with subtitle? I have an European player. Thanks!

Solved: my problem was that in the console, the wrong profile was loaded for my player. After choosing the correct one and restarting everything it worked nice: paling mkv with subtitle, without transcoding
