Serviio causes WHS 2011 to crash

Hi guys,

I've been looking for a better DLNA streaming option for my new Windows Home Server 2011 box.

I got serviio 0.5.2 up and running and was very impressed. It worked for me for about 2 weeks and then my machine started BSODing every time it booted. The error message was a Hardware Failure and I feared that something had gone very wrong.

However after digging around in Event Viewer (and not finding very much useful information) I decided to enable all my services and enable them one-by-one to see what was causing the problem.

Well, to my surprise it turned out to be serviio. Even after uninstall (removing settings etc) and then reinstalling - the crashes came back immediately...

Has anyone heard of a problem like this before? Are there any known issues that might be fixed by the next release?

Can you post your serviio.log file. How did you install serviio?

I am now seeing the same symptim. After upgrading to v1.2.1 Serviio causes my Windows Home Server to crash consistently.
Can I get back to previous verision, or can I help you in debugging?

I'm not sure, but I think it was 1.0.1. However, it looks as if Serviio wass not the real reason for my server to become unstable. Strangely, the pc began crashing immediately after I had upgraded Serviio, and it became stable after I had uninstalled Serviio.
By coincidence I was about to make a full backup of the disk, and then the crashes re-appeared. The reason turned out to be disk problems in an area containing a photo archive. Nobody had touched those files for a long time - until the upgraded Serviio needed to scan the folders. So, it was just a coincidence that Serviio caused the crashes.
