JAVA Error every time I open Serviio Console

Hi Zip,

What triggered this was updating Java. I have no idea what in particular - I'm more of an end user sort of guy.

After a few hours of Googling I found this solution to work:

Download JavaRa http://singularlabs.com/software/javara ... -download/
Use JavaRa to fully remove Java (Windows uninstall alone will not work
Restart PC
Use JavaRa to install Java
Download and install Air Video Player http://get.adobe.com/air/
Reinstall Serviio >> Important <<
Restart PC

Reinstalls of Java/Serviio were not enough. Java can be a nuisance, I ran into a similar issue last year.


Feel free to point people to this fix if they are getting similar issues.

Count me in. Driving me pretty nuts which is so sad because I LOVE serviio. Worked great until this weekend when I finally succumbed to those nagging java update notices. Let's see: I've used JavaRa to remove all flavors of Java I've tried. I've tried Java 6.21, 6.39, 6.41 and 6.45. I've tried 7.0, 7.17 and 7.21. I've used the offline install for all of these. Sometimes the Java test site finds the older version I'd just installed (and wants to update it which I refuse), sometimes it finds no java. With no java installed, serviio tries to install version 7.17 and still fails with 'No JVM found' message. I've tried all the path and variable tweaks shown here and on other boards with no success. I've downloaded the XBMC dlna serve but I really would love to use the serviio I know. If buying the pro version would make it work I'd do it, but I'm pretty sure that wouldn't help. Please fix this anad help me get my home net happy again. I'm tired of sneakernetting my flash drive around the house. Thank you.

Don't know if this will work for everyone else but after reinstalling the 32 bit version of java I continued to have problems. I then went to the java website, manually downloaded and installed the 64 bit version of java http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp and lo and behold Serviio works again. Having both x86 and x64 versions on the same computer hasn't been causing any issues with my system. Unsure of quite why this works but perhaps it can get Serviio working for people again

Hopefully one day Serviio console will not be Java dependent......always have to re-install the latest version......just hopefully one day....

This has been driving me round the bend trying to fix it since I updated Java, I have tried all the suggestions for uninstalling and installing Java, installing 32bit Java before the 64bit version, uninstalling Serviio and adding environment variables etc.

Anyway today I decided to do a search on EXE4J in the registry.
You will have to excuse me if some of the terminology below is incorrect but hopefully it will make sense and help some of you with the same problem.

I noticed that one of the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ej-technologies only had one key for jre6 and other further down the registry there was also a key for jre7 so I created a new key and copied the values from further down the registry.

Finally after months of frustration Serviio console now fires up and no longer asks me to define EXE4J_JAVA_HOME.

This worked for me and hopefully will be of use to someone else.

The usual warnings about messing with the Registry apply.

I have attached a screenshot of the registry key and values added.

Hi, I've just found this thread from last year, and I'm wondering if there has been any solution, as I've now got the same problem since updating, after prompting, to Java 7/55. This is the first time it has happened and I've been using Serviio for a long time. Serviio is v. 1.4.1 (I think, as I can't access it to check), updated on 21/03/14.

I've uninstalled Java, removed all folders and reinstalled, but still getting the same error message - file attached.

Any help would be appreciated.

I did the same, and it works.

Here is the fix go to computer open go to x86 folder open and find java open folder copy JRE6 folder. Go back to computer and open program files folder and open java folder paste JRE6 folder. Click and open serviio and presto back in business. This will fix the issue in windows 7 64 bit once you have auto updated Java.
