Samsung BD C5500 does not see MP3 files

I'm probably missing something simple.

I have several folders shared through Serviio. Most of them are shared as video folders (and they work fine), while one is shared as music folder. That musis folder contains some subfolders (e.g. Artist->Album etc) and eventually the actual MP3 files.

When I ask my Samsung player to show me the music available through Serviio, it displays the standard folder structure, allowing me to browse by album, artist, title etc. All these folders seem to work fine, i.e. they contain the proper names of albums, artists etc. However, when I finally get to the lower level where I'm supposed to see the actual music files, the folder is shown as empty. If I just browse my music as "Folders", I see my original folder structure, but again the leaf folders are shown as empty.

In other words, the player does not see the actual MP3 files. What could be wrong?

P.S. If I share the same music folder through Samsung PC share program, the player has no problems seeing and playing the very same MP3 files.

Re: Samsung BD C5500 does not see MP3 files

I figured it out. It is indeed simple. My Samsung player has several icons in its top-level menu Video, Audio and Pictures. When I click any of these icons, I get to the same top-level folder list presented by Serviio. Serviioo apparently always presents the entire folder structure to the player. However, the player filters out the "incorrect" file types, depending on which top-level icon was used.

E.g. if I open Serviio through the Video icon, the player will only display video files and hide everything else. Note that it only hides files, but never hides folders. It will still display my Music folders shared through Serviio, but they will appear as empty.

If I open Serviio through Audio icon, the opposite will happen, i.e. the very same shared folders remain visible, including video folders. But Video folders will appear as empty.

So, this raises the obvious question: can this behavior be somehow configured on the Serviio side? If I open Serviio through Video icon, I want Serviio to present only folders shared as "video" to the player. Similarly, If I open Serviio through Audio icon, I want Serviio to present only folders shared as "music" to the player. I actually expected it work that way already. But apparently it doesn't. Is this somehow possible?

It should work on the Samsung devices, at least on the TVs. Make sure you have the C/D/E profile selected.
