Connecting to Network Drive

To start, I have searched the forums, I have searched Google, and I have read the FAQ.

I am trying to connect Serviio on my Windows computer, to my NAS where my media is stored.
[*]I have made sure my current window logon account has the same username/password as the synology NAS (and that user on the NAS has permissions for that folder)
[*]I accessed the serviio service and made sure to enable the "Log on as" setting to my current windows username/password
[*]I have created a path in the serviio console as \\192.168.1.105\video

I can access my NAS from my computer, so I know that it connects, I also can add local folders to my serviio library and those can be read from other DLNA devices. I was wondering if someone can create a step-by-step guide for how to solve my problem, because I have no idea why this is not working.

Thank you in advance!!

You know your Synology box has a built in media server? Also you can.install Serviio directly onto your Synology box? Might be easier options

Yea, i know the only issue is that I have a Sony Bravia that can only see .MPEG files, and a Roku in another room that can only see .MP4 files. Which would be fine if the synology had the ability to transcode, which it does not. Regardless if its the synology media server, or the serviio.

So my next solution was to install a media server on my computer, while the files are stored on my NAS. My roku can't access my serviio, so I have to use Plex for that. And it works perfectly well. Watching Skyfall now. But the Sony Bravia won't work very will with Roku so I have serviio for that. But I can't get serviio to see the files on my NAS.

I know its a roundabout way, but currently its the best setup I have. Once my serviio can access my NAS, I'm golden. Thanks for the tip though.

KDLHX800, but I don't believe that is the issue with Serviio. I've checked the logs and for some reason the Serviio won't conenct to the NAS.
And in case your asking if the Bravia works with Plex, I have tried manually editing profiles and after weeks have given up on that route.

Re: Connecting to Network Drive

I've got serviio setup on a nas but on the device itselfs.....as you say this sounds like a permissions issues not serviio itself. The folder has read access but via an username + password login ? Have you tried make the folder public with read only access so serviio doesn't need to attempt to connect ? Or have I mis-understood

Re: Connecting to Network Drive

Okay, on a whim, I decided to reset my windows password and serviio password to something new at the same time. That seemed to work and it conencts and reads all media. I don't know, may have been an issue with my fingerprint reader.

In any case, its now connecting to the NAS, but the bravia isn't working nicely. It reads the server, and the folders, but apparently doesn't transcode or see any actual media files. Anyone familair with that model TV KDL46HX800

Re: Connecting to Network Drive

Progress! I went searching Sony's website and came across an application called http://www.sony.co.uk/hub/1237485339460 that is meant to be a DLNA client for your computer to your Sony Bravia TV, but apparently is just just Serviio packaged under the Sony brand. The console is exactly the same. So I grabbed the profile they had for Bravia TVs, plopped it until my serviio profiles, and next thing you know, I've got video/audio.

Now the issue is that it skips every 2 seconds when playing 1080p. I haven't figured out if its a transcoding issue, file issue, or network issue, but i will post another topic as the NAS issue I started with has been resolved.
