Can't connect to HW220 on second visit

I recently bought a Panasonic HW220 and connected it, via the local wired network, to my MacPro running OS10.6.8. I set the 220 to a fixed ip address.

I opened Serviio and it immediately found the 220 showing a green light. I was then able to view the stream via VLC (and hope at some point to be able to save the stream).

Today, with no known changes, opening Serviio shows a red light next to the HW220. The unit is on, and showing as a connected device in the router.

Resetting Serviio and opening again still finds the 220 but still with the red light. I therefore assume that it sees the machine but is now refusing to acknowledge that it is on.

Does this ring any bells with anyone else?

Thanks!

Thanks for this. There was a log for each of Serviio and Serviio-Console so I hope I've uploaded both.

Re: Can't connect to HW220 on second visit

looks like you have a serviio process that is hung and you are trying to start a second one. You can either reboot.. or use the terminal and kill-9 the hung process and try again.

Re: Can't connect to HW220 on second visit

Many thanks for the thoughts but I already rebooted several times and re-installed Serviio. I guess there could be a corrupt preference somewhere but I don't see any obvious reference to where the preferences are.

I also deleted both Serviio files and re-installed. No change. HW220 still has a red dot.

Re: Can't connect to HW220 on second visit

did you go through the guide for serviio where you set it up to auto start on your mac? that autostart entry could still be active and causing dual instances.

in either case something is causing your serviio app to double launch.

Can you re-post your logs after reinstall? I would like to see if anything changed.

Autostart is not enabled. However, if relevant, Serviio always prevents the MacPro from shutting down. I have to force-quit Serviio each time.

Incidentally, in deleting the two previous Serviio apps prior to reinstallation, I have assumed that there are no other components elsewhere. I couldn't find any reference in the library folders/preferences.

Logs attached.

Cheers.

just the same socket error over and over.

Try removing and reinstalling Java and see if that helps.

Re: Can't connect to HW220 on second visit

I have to say that I've never had to do this so I'm going to do a little research on how best to do this and any implications. I don't want to risk making a mistake as this is my main work computer!

Thanks for the support.

It looks like something is blocking UDP port 1900. google for netstat command usage

Cheers Petr. I think that's a PC command and I'm all Mac here.

I reinstalled everything and when Serviio Console launches, I just get a blank panel. No rendering devices shown.

If I install Serviio on another drive with Snow Leopard (same version) and boot from that then Serviio works fine. I could do this but it's clumsy.

I can't see any reason why the rendering devices panel would be empty.

Logs attached.

Is Java version the same on both of these Macs?

Re: Can't connect to HW220 on second visit

Are you running two Serviio instances at the same time somehow? It seems it can't bind to an IP address. Also are you running any other DLNA software?
