Configure DLNA Menu

Hi
Serviio is the best product ! Thank you !

Is there a way to configure the DLNA menu that Serviio shows ? In my Samsung TV it shows a menu called 'Basic View' with the folders shown below.

1 When Video is seletec - can it just open Movies directly as default ?
2 When Audio is selected - can it just open Albums by default ? Looks like this folder is missing, maybe it can be added?
3 When Image is selected - can it just open Photos by default? is Albums the correct name here?

Is it possible to have something like a selectable Serviio 'DLNA View' option in the Serviio Console? I have attached picture to show what I mean.

For now Im just using Serviio to show my Movies, so I dont want to see any other folder, I just want to see the Movies folder, Im not interested in Directors, last viewed, etc.
Been able to select just the 'Video-Movie' DLNA menu and not the rest would be great.

Is this at all possible?

Thank you for this great product!

Re: Configure DLNA Menu

+1
I second this.
I use serviio for my TV recordings and my media center (mediaportal) places all files in an appropriate folder structure.
More I don't need to see on my Samsung B650...

It would be great to have a checkbox so that serviio only shows the pure folder structure. At the moment I have to skip all other categories (Directors, last viewed, etc.) before I get to the "Folders"...

Is it possible to get a checkbox like this earlier than 0.5 ?

I'll see, maybe 0.4.1 or so. At the moment I'm really busy with 0.4 and want to release to you guys ASAP rather than keep adding features indifinetely.

Re: Configure DLNA Menu

I like this too.

I'd also like to be an option to create a custom grouping - e.g. I have a lot of music video's so on addition to Movie & Series I'd like to add Music. I'm sure others would like something else maybe for Home Movies to ability to add custom groupi names might be best way forward.

Re: Configure DLNA Menu

I second, third, fourth, and fifth what the others have said here...

I use a PS3 to access, so from my point of view the ideal scenario would be as follows...

When I go to the Serviio media server Icon, I would like it to open the directory that the FOLDER directory opens. On the PS3 you have the option of Movies, Pictures and Music, it would be nice if Serviio could tell from which top level option it had been launched from. Failing that (I'm aware that it might not be possible to do such detection, or maybe it is) a simple set of folders Music/Pics/Videos, and then from there the contents of the FOLDER directory.

Perhaps at this point we could have a check box option in the console to toggle an options or refinements option, within which would be all the refinements of the directory structure that we currently have (genre/director/series/etc) from an option at the top of our own directory; so we still see our own directory structure, but with the options of refinement appended to the top.

Other than the fact that I'd like the initial directories to be simpler, this really is an amazing peice of software. Really, well done! and thanks!

I agree with Britinva's comment - it would be great to be able to setup custom grouping based on a selected folder location and its subfolders. In my case, I'd love to have Movies, Series and "Home Videos" on the main Video menu.

The underlying folder structure would be something like:
  Code:
Media HDD
  |--Videos
  |    |-- Video Camera                    <-- Point a custom group called "Home Videos" to this folder
  |    |     |-- 2010-06 (June 2010)
  |    |     |-- 2010-05 (May 2010)
  |    |     |-- 2010-04 (April 2010)
  |    |     |-- etc.
  |    |-- Movies
  |    |     |-- etc.
  |    |-- Series
  |          |-- etc.
  |--Music
  |    |-- etc.
  |-- Photos
       |-- etc.

I submit to morci. For me it would be great to have only the "normal Folders" view.

thx Askoba

Re: Configure DLNA Menu

Let me say firstly, thank you for providing us with this project and its continued developement. Your hard work is greatly appreciate. I have found this to be the best and most user friendly Media solution available.

I have my Media Server Hard drive (NAS) setup with different categorized folders. Movies, Home Movies, Animated Movies, Documentaries, Adult Movies etc. I personally would like to see an option in the interface that would allow me to be able to check and select what categories and movies I can allow the Player to display before I start the server. I do not want the clutter of my home movies mixed in with my regular theater movies and it maybe embarrasing if my adult movies are displayed when there may be young adults visiting and browsing my movies.

Are there any plans relating to this? Is this even possible?

Re: Configure DLNA Menu

There was a suggestion of profiles to be included in a future version. That could be based either on genres, or possibly you could include/exclude particular shared folders too.

Has there been any progress on this request?

The Bitbucket request says Resolved @ Version 0.5

But the latest version is 0.42

Thanks,

I would love this feature too but: I checked with wireshark and I didn't find any message about the folder (Video, Audio or Pictures) - personally I think this would be a design failure if it would'nt be possible to know ... but2: I think I've seen this already on another DLNA server (unfort. forgotten which it was) ...

Ok, you want a Folders category that includes all file types, right?

Re: Configure DLNA Menu

I think I didn't make myself clear ... maybe it depends on the TV as well:
In the Sony TV you have cross - similar to the PS3 - where you select e.g. Music content, Video or Picture content.

When you select Video content the serviio icon is presented. When you then select the serviio icon you again see Video, Music and Pictures (the folders form serviio) - although you are already in the Video subsection (selected through the TV).

Re: Configure DLNA Menu

Yes, Servvio knows nothing about the TV's section though. So a way to get around this would be to:

1) Have a All folders category including audio, video and image files
2) disable all other categories (A,V,I)
3) Make this All folders category transparent

That would achieve you getting your shared folders displayed straight under the TV's Audio/Video/Images sections ... all would see the same. Not sure if it then filters what files it actually displays in each section.
