Media Devices

Hey all new user looking for a little help with media devices. I have read many posts about samsung devices and WDlive working pretty well. However i can not find anything if those or any device can take use of the API besides the web browser on a PCr? I love having all my videos with pictures like how they are displayed in the media browser. I have an LG tv and it works fine but it looks well plain. Can anyone tell me if if there is a device (besides putting PC's in each room and playing through the browser) that would use the API to get the pictures atleast if not all the metatag data that i can play on my tv's in my house.

Thanks for any help.

Re: Media Devices

My Panasonic TV will show the picture (usually the DVD/Blu-Ray package, but sometimes a promotional piece), but the Sony boxes don't. I haven't seen any media device yet that will show the metadata that Serviio stores in its database. I've opened the database and it's all there, but other than the picture I noted above and the year released I've never seen a player that shows any other metadata.

That said, I've never seen any devices other than Panasonic TV and Blu-Ray players and my Sony network boxes. Perhaps there's another brand I'm unfamiliar with. I never considered the WDTV box because it doesn't support Amazon Instant Video.

Re: Media Devices

Thank you atc98092 for the reply.

For those who were wondering i have a logitech revue and i am able to use the web browser on the device to stream all my movies having full function of the metadata. I have yet to see if Serviiogo will work on there but will be trying it out and see if i can get it installed.

Re: Media Devices

ServiiGo does not officially support Google TV devices (and I've actually blocked installation via Google Play). However, it does mostly work if you side load it but there are some problems, specicially navigation is a bit of a pain as focus wonders between UI elements. In terms of video playback, I've had reports that it works with external players. I'm working on an experimental built in player and it mostly works when combined with a special profile, this isn't available in the current public builds though as it needs a bit of work, but I may have some time if people are interested in testing it for me.

I have an issue associated with it which I'll update when I have time to work on it (https://bitbucket.org/willlunniss/servi ... /google-tv). If you have any specific feedback it would be useful if you add it there/let me know via the ServiiGo thread about what works and doesn't.

Re: Media Devices

Thanks will for the update on the Google TV. I have been looking at getting a newer device for my other TV's Something like the MK808 or the Prometheus both that run Andriod 4.1. Once work settles down i can test out any builds you have but might be a week or two.
