server not refreshing

you have to pass the file path of the video file, not the folder.

this is not a file specific problem. it happens with dozens of variations of file formats...

library automatically updated does not actually work as a function, as you said above - it waits to refresh based on whatever is set in 'pause between refresh' - so it doesnt actually automatically refresh

nor does force library refresh, you are still bound by whatever is set by the server, so it doesnt actually force a library refresh

Yes, it's expected and how it works. It's automatic in the way that you don't have to manually click anything and your files will appear in time on the device.

It should, but as you've failed to provide your log, not much I can do to help you / investigate.

its automatic in the sense you dont have to do anything to get the file to eventually refresh on the server, but it won't instantly refresh

and force library refresh doesn't actually force it to happen, it'll still just automaticaly refresh when the timer is set

you've all but admitted. put the function in so that the force library refresh actually forces it through immediately. or just have it permanently set so that it auto instantly refreshes anyways

I don't believe it is stated anywhere that it instantly refreshes. Automatic means "without manual intervention", which Serviio is doing: you don't need to tell it to add a media file, if you put the file into one of the shared folders then it will automatically be added to the library at some stage. I have seen requests for proactive monitoring of shared folders, but if it is in the development pipeline then it would be a low priority development - proactive monitoring is OS dependant, is tricky when working with remote storage and plus, the present polled system works (notwithstanding your experience).

Yes it does for me, and I suspect for all other users as this thread is the only current report of this issue. You can actually see it happen by pressing the Show Status button after forcing the refresh. It appears to be a problem unique to your setup. People on this forum may be able to assist you with this, however you need to provide a detailed log as has been requested two times already. If you're not prepared to provide the log for whatever reason then there is not much more that can be done.

After upgrading from 1.3 to 1.4 My Videos folder was not updated. Finally I found: It does not and can update folders with accented characters, such as my videos folder, because my SO and kubuntu en. In Portuguese the word videos have orthographic accent on the letter i. Another affected folder and Music folder for the same reason.

Remove diacritics and your folder will be updated. Rename your folders and do not forget to update in the serviio console to the new renamed folders.

Após atualizar de 1.3 para 1.4 minha pasta de Vídeos não foi mais atualizada. Finalmente descobri: Ele não e capaz de atualizar pastas com caracteres acentuados, como por exemplo a minha pasta Vídeos, pois meu SO e o kubuntu pt-BR. Em português a palavra Vídeos possui acento ortográfico na letra i. Outra pasta afetada e a pasta Musica pelo mesmo motivo.

Retire os acentos ortográficos e sua pasta sera atualizada. Renomeie suas pastas e não se esqueçam de atualizar no console do serviio para as novas pastas renomeadas.

Estou escrevendo em português e usando tradutor para postar.
