It will need to be added to the server, I think zip was planning on adding it.

What is the use case for this? Seems like a waste of bandwidth.

Yes because its a website and not a mobile app.

Put it another way, are there particular folders that you actually need this for e.g Online?

Re: ServiiGo (Android 3G/4G/Wifi Playback App)

Any thoughts on actions you would like to be able to perform on search results?

The list of categories at the moment is : MOVIES, EPISODES, SERIES, ALBUMS, MUSIC_TRACKS, ALBUM_ARTISTS, FOLDERS, FILES

Most containers are simple (folders, series, artists etc...), they will have a single action which is to view them.

Movies will also just have view

Episodes could have: view (default), view series, view season

Files could have: view (default), view containing folder

Music tracks could have: play (default), queue, view (not sure if thats worth it?), view album, view artist

Albums could have: view (default), view artist

Edit: Just realised albums and tracks come via the Audio->Album view, so it won't be possible to look up the artist for them atm

Its been a busy week, looking to fully test it this weekend

I use Sickbeard to get new shows, it downloads different times. Its difficult knowing without auto refresh whats recently downloaded.

Re: ServiiGo (Android 3G/4G/Wifi Playback App)

Ok, would you maybe just want it for last added? In the future I want to add an auto updating last added widget so would make it clear when new content available. I'm just trying to avoid something that goes again what I'm try to work towards. But if I cannot think of something more subtle then I will look at adding it.

How is the testing going, can you at least confirm whether the built in player works for your two devices.

Re: ServiiGo (Android 3G/4G/Wifi Playback App)

Man, this app is sweet so far. Just started playing with it. A few major observations right now:

- Original quality does pause every minute or two in a 1080p movie
- Audio doesn't play in Original quality
- Medium quality seems a bit... dirty? There's a definite blockiness during motion.
- No HW acceleration for Medium quality? Bwuh?

Phone: Nexus 4
Network: Home wifi
Connection: going out from wifi to my dynamic dns address back into the network (so maybe the buffering is the double traffic, who knows)

Anyone know what's up with the audio during original quality in 1080p? That's probably my big problem right now. That said... This stuff is sweet. :D

Re: ServiiGo (Android 3G/4G/Wifi Playback App)

Hi, which video player are you using for playback. The default one doesn't support many audio codes and because Original really is the original video, that might be the cause. Try MX Player.

For the stuttering it's probably a bandwidth issue, how is your server connected to your network? Going via dynamic DNS won't be the problem, routers are smart enough to keep the traffic inside the private network.

Medium quality currently uses mpeg2 and the bit rates are quite conservative 1Mbit/s (0.5 for Low), if you have cable / fibre broadband then I can show you how to change them, but if you have ADSL then you cannot really increase them much more.

The next version will add support for HLS which uses H.264 which increases the quality quite a bit for similar bitrates, however, it is much heavier on the server CPU. It should also add support for HW acceleration on most devices. This is currently being tested.

I must have missed the part the internal video player is back!
This one works great! Tested it on both GS4 and HTC One

Did notice, if you keep tapping pause/play the onscreen info doesnt go away.

The two big things in ServiiGo 3.0 are search and the revised internal player which will be the default for Medium/Low quality as it enables seeking, and out of those, video playback needs the serious testing!

The old internal player used a third party library that worked back to 2.2, but performance/quality wasn't great. This solution produces better results, but is limited to JB/ (and probably ICS) only. However, seeing as 87% of active users are on ICS+ I decided it was not worth trying to get it to work on older devices. The main downside is that H.264 ecoding is more CPU intesive for the server.

Out of interest, can you switch the profile back to the legacy mpeg2 based one, and see if the internal player still works, so far I've only found it to work on my Nexus 7.

So it never goes away? OK i'll look at the logic I use to hide the controls. Now that its staying I'll be able to put some proper effort into it, e.g. display video details, and in future subtitles etc...

Now that the thumbnails are higher res, and folder thumbnails are available, Movies/Series are dispalyed (next beta) as grids of the poster artwork with no text etc. I can either make this to only option, or have a way to revert to the legacy poster + details. Any thoughts?

My default was mpeg2, switched to HLS, havent noticed much difference but volume is higher

Can you make video plaer iOS style where, if you tap on the video OSD shows up, tap on video again OSD hides away

With Series, when the selected TV show is chosen, it shows the first line description, think its best not to display this until the user presses the down button or TV banner on top.
Gives more space for content.

You are using 1.3? While it might say it is using the HLs profile, it will be using the old one when connected to a 1.2 server. The video quality is quite different under Medium/Low between the two profiles.

It's supposed to do that, I'll fix it for the next beta.

Serviio uses poster format images for Series, those are banners, so it looks like this

That's by design to give you a taste of the plot. On a lot of my shows the first bit is actually quite informative. On my phone I can see the first 6 seasons without scrolling, with the last particularly obscured, so it wouldn't allow any more rows on the screen. How many show on yours?

Can you try turning on S/W decoding for audio (click on the audio track symbol next to the H/W icon in the top right, or through Settings->Decoder.

What OS is your server running, and what upload bandwidth do you have?

As it shows one line of the show description and a bit on the next line, would be best just to have arrow down to show all. Design will look alot cleaner. Quick example below

Im using Serviio 1.3 beta.
TV DVD covers look really good, any estimates when the next beta will be released.

Re: ServiiGo (Android 3G/4G/Wifi Playback App)

Xmantium wrote:As it shows one line of the show description and a bit on the next line

It is supposed to show just the first line (and does on my devices). In that case if the text is clipping on different devices, then maybe it might be best, I'll have a play at some point before the final release as I'm planning on adjusting various paddings and typography throughout the app.

Im using Serviio 1.3 beta.

There really should be a difference in quality, especially under Low. Can you turn off the internal player, and then play a Medium quality via MX Player, then go Menu->Tools->Properties and make a note of the video codec under each of the two profile options. If mpeg2 does work on both the GS4 and HTC One then thats great news, its just strange that you cannot tell the difference.

TV DVD covers look really good, any estimates when the next beta will be released.

I'm away for the next week for work in France, might get some time for dev, at least on the 5 hours of trains coming back, so possibly next weekend, but more likely the weekend after. It will include finished off search, fixes to the video player, and then UI changes e.g. making use of folder thumbnails/higher res thumbnails.

On that note, I probably won't be able to offer any support until next weekend either, although might be albe to check in once or twice.
