First try with the "Generic profile" selected on Serviio console.
Then if some files in your library are not playable or not visible, post here information about that files format, then we will help you to create a specific profile.

This is a http link to a local network address that I could not have access (private network)
Could you copy/paste here the content ?
If we have to create a profile for your device, we need some information for serviio to automatically select the proper profile.

It seems that the device support FLAC over USB, but we don't know if it support it over DLNA (serviio).
Try with the "Generic profile".

The wiki page is only a database for serviio advanced user to help to create profile.

For the moment do not edit the profiles.xml file.
First try with the Generic profile and check which file need to be transcode to a format supported by your device.

Also .m4a, .ape, .wv don't work - as I know it's ok for my Yamaha - but can Serviio convert them automatically like foobar2000 do?

And one more question please - is here http://clip2net.com/s/5eBSgp everything ok for the best quality of audio & video?

P.S. Thank you for the help! - I've bought my first hi-fi system and would like to get 100% from it.

Good start, yes.
djivatma wrote:I tried and there was 2 files, that didn't work:
1. Avatar(ExtendedCollectorsEdition)(2h58m09s)(3D+inserts2D)2009.halfOU(TopGun) - it works ok previously
Info about file from KMPlayer
Format : AVC
Format/Info : Advanced Video Codec
Format profile : High@L4.0
2. Intouchables.BDRip.1080p - It didn't work previously in Serviio but Nero Media Server opened and played it ok.
Format : AVC
Format/Info : Advanced Video Codec
Format profile : High@L4.1
Format settings, CABAC : Yes

"previously" .. I don't anderstand.
Could you confirm that the first one "Avatar" works ok with serviio, and the second "Intouchables" not ?

The only significant difference I see is the AVC video codec profile level:
High@L4.0 play fine
High@L4.1 failed

Do you read something about this on your device usermanual ?

djivatma wrote:Also .m4a, .ape, .wv don't work - as I know it's ok for my Yamaha - but can Serviio convert them automatically like foobar2000 do?

.m4a can be transcode to LCPM lossless with serviio with a custom profile.

But I think .ape and .wv are not supported by serviio, I need confirmation of ZIP (serviio dev')

Yes, its a good setting.

"previously" .. I don't anderstand.
- I mean that Avatar was playing good in Serviio before I've opened that topic and you make (or not) changes in Yamaha profile. Or maybe it's because I reinstalled Java... (Serviio console didn't start after PC reboot so I had to uninstall and install Java once again).
The second film - Intouchables - didn't play all the time and I still cannot run it now. When I open it in Serviio - before playing begins the film skips and the next film in the list starts playing.

However, for example, Nero Media Server plays correct bouth films.

Do you read something about this on your device usermanual ?

Maybe it'll be helpful

there is nothing else.

.m4a can be transcode to LCPM lossless with serviio with a custom profile.

What profile should I chose? You recomend me Generic Profile. Maybe you will add a Yamaha BD-A1020 profile in the next version/update of the Serviio?...

P.S. Sorry for my English - I truly try to find correct words :)

We don't make any changes in Yamaha profile...because we don't create it for the moment.
I recommand to use "Generic Profile" ( this is the default profile) to determine which format are supported in native format without transcoding.
Then when you found format not supported, we will add to future Yamaha profile (in construction).

The second film - Intouchables - didn't play all the time and I still cannot run it now. When I open it in Serviio - before playing begins the film skips and the next film in the list starts playing.

OK, so there is something in that file that your device does not support. But I really don't know what.
However, for example, Nero Media Server plays correct both films.

I suppose that this Media Server transcode all mkv in a mpegts/mpeg2video format. But your device should support mkv/h264 codec, transcoding is not needed.

Maybe it'll be helpful

there is nothing else.

Thanks, but nothing about h264 profile level.

I will write a profile for you, if we really need to transcode some format.

Could you edit the serviio/config/profiles.xml file and add the following just before the last </Profiles> element.
Then restart serviio service or reboot your PC.

- Yes, I've done it http://clip2net.com/s/5eMhMh - Thank you for the code.

Here are the results with new Yamaha BD-A1020 profile:
1. when I open FLAC files - the Yamaha player shows that the type is PCM - it means that Serviio convert from Flac to PCM? - Does it really good for the sound?
2. Avatar is showed as MPEG file and doesn't open;
3. but Intouchables now is playing good :)
4. also I can't skip/choose chapters during the film now - only set up speed of playback 1x/2x/4x - it's not good;
5. and I couldn't play whole album with such files
  Code:
[FLAC] [03:01] George Benson - Along Comes Mary   </192 kHz/5072 kbps/109,85 MB/>
- I have a message that player doesn't support such format, but it was all ok with general DLNA profile.

Illico, could you, please, set up a profile which support all Yamaha native formats like - [VIDEO]: MKV with H.264, MPEG PS, MPEG TS, MPEG-4, VOB, AVI, ASF, WMV, DivX Plus HD, AVCHD [AUDIO]: MP3, WMA, AAC, WAV, FLAC [PHOTO]: JPEG,GIF, PNG - without any transcoding and customize profile for transcoding unsupported formats like .m4a, .ape, .wv, ... ?

Yes, Serviio will transcode in PCM lossless. "Good for sound"? which best format do you want ?
Does this file appears and play with the "Generic Profile" ?
djivatma wrote:2. Avatar is showed as MPEG file and doesn't open;

doesn't open ?? strange..no idea.
djivatma wrote:3. but Intouchables now is playing good :)

OK, so transcoding work fine.
djivatma wrote:4. also I can't skip/choose chapters during the film now - only set up speed of playback 1x/2x/4x - it's not good;

when mkv is transcoded to mpegts, chapter information are lost.

I'm not sure to understand... does FLAC format is supported with "Generic Profile" ?
if this is the case, remove the line with flac on previous code. NO need to transcode it.

Illico, could you, please, set up a profile which support all Yamaha native formats like
[VIDEO]: MKV with H.264, MPEG PS, MPEG TS, MPEG-4, VOB, AVI, ASF, WMV, DivX Plus HD, AVCHD
[AUDIO]: MP3, WMA, AAC, WAV, FLAC
[PHOTO]: JPEG,GIF, PNG - without any transcoding and customize profile for transcoding unsupported formats like .m4a, .ape, .wv, ... ?

This is the aim of this topic.
Your device support a lot of format, so "Generic profile" is probably the best for the moment.
The profile I posted inherit of the "Generic Profile" and add some custom condition where some file format will be transcode like .m4a etc.
But for .APE and .WV format, I think serviio does not support them.

EDIT: For mkv file that does not work, you can try to rewrite the mkv with MKVToolnix, sometime the mkv container are not well created and some device does not play them.
When the new mkv is created, retry with the "Generic Profile".

Re: Yamaha BD-A1020

Dear Illico, thank you for the help and such detailed answer.

As I understand - General DLNA profile is good for devices, which play many audio/video formats and it is without transcoding. Other profiles are good for specific devices to play unsupported formats transcode them to supported.
So for Yamaha BD-A1020 General profile is the best?

  Code:
I'm not sure to understand... does FLAC format is supported with "Generic Profile" ?
if this is the case, remove the line with flac on previous code. NO need to transcode it.

Yes, Flac is supported with "Generic Profile" and I remove the line with flac on previous code so it plays Flac ok now with BD-A1020 profile.

when mkv is transcoded to mpegts, chapter information are lost.

Could you please modify the code to play mkv without transcoding to mpegts like you told me about Flac? The player support MKV with H.264

  Code:
      <!-- Transcode all h264 video with HIGH/MAIN > Level 4.0 on MPEG-TS stream with MPEG2VIDEO and ac3 audio transcoding -->
         <!-- expected profile MPEG_TS_SD_EU/MPEG_TS_SD_NA/MPEG_TS_SD_KO -->
         <Video targetContainer="mpegts" targetVCodec="mpeg2video" targetACodec="ac3" >
            <Matches container="*" vCodec="h264" profile="high_10" />
            <Matches container="*" vCodec="h264" profile="high" levelGreaterThan="4.0" />
            <Matches container="*" vCodec="h264" profile="main" levelGreaterThan="4.0" />
         </Video>

What about Mkvtoolnix tool, do you try to rebuild your mkv (Intouchables)

It's all ok now, thank you Illico very much :)

Only Avatar and Intouchables don't play. I've tried Mkvtoolnix tool - but it takes about 30 min. to rebuild Intouchables! O_O - However it didn't help: non with Generic DLNA, non with Yamaha profile. Also direct from USB drive it didn't play.

So there is something with the video codec that your device does not support. I don't know what...

musepack (*.mpc) and Monkey's Audio (*.ape) files too : https://bitbucket.org/xnejp03/serviio/i ... io-support
